I purposely declined to watch. With so many videos out there now it's going to be really hard...but I'm trying to resist until next month. I want to be completely surprised!!!

I hope you can hold out!
I know it will be long enough until we get there that I want to see at least a little taste of it...I'm thinking it will be totally different in person too :D

If we knew we weren't going in a month, we'd do the same. I know it will be different in person too, but there has been so much hype that I don't want too much to be given away...

...it's gonna be really hard after tonight as all the fan sites are going to be nothing but comments, pics and videos from the show!

Yeh, if he doesn't get on the board more often, how can we corrupt him into becoming a Mayhem Marauder? :D

I was there opening day. They had two shows, one at 9pm and one at 10:15pm but they added one more show at 11:15pm in which I went to. We managed to get there at DCA around 1pm to get the WOC Fastpass and stayed in DCA the entire day. We were assigned colored sections such as orange, blue, yellow or red and we were in the red. We managed to be real close to the water and with the wind going on, the water was sprayed back into us after shooting up in the air.

The show was INCREDIBLE. I watched on the live stream when they showed it the previous night but it was much better seeing it up close and in person. I can't wait to go again and hopefully get a video this time aside from photos. It was WELL WORTH IT.

Ms. Swann, I am green with envy!!! But I am glad you were able to go and brave the crowds for the first shows! So there were indeed fastpasses for the third show? I know Al Lutz was mentioning that there probably wouldn't be any for the third show if it was added.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! :mickey:

Wow ~ that is great that you got to go on opening day! Did you happen to see the Paradise Pier section for the other two shows...how were the crowds? How were the sections laid out? I'm anxiously awaiting the photos :D

I didn't get to see the crowds for the other two shows because they had blocked off all of Paradise Pier. It's a ticketed event to stand in the Paradise Park area but you could watch from behind the lake by Toy Story Mania or stand in the area underneath Silly Symphony Swings. When we got our Fastpasses, we were scheduled to meet with the rest of the people for our showing at the Redwood Creek Trail (the Brother Bear section) and we waited there for at least an hour before they gathered us to go to Paradise Park.

The sections were laid out as this: orange was the bridge leading to Paradise Pier (and you can bet how insanely cluttered that was), blue was the left hand side of Paradise Park, yellow was smack dab in the middle, and red (the section I was in) was still a bit in the middle and the right hand side of Paradise Park.

Interesting ~ do they separate you by color while waiting? And is it first come first served in where you get to stand in your colored section?

I think they do, I'm not sure. The sections are pretty spread apart so you can stand anywhere as long as you're in your assigned color coded section.

MiceChat had a nice interview with Imagineer and father of World of Color, Steve Davison. I found this part to be quite interesting...
MC: Is the show easily programmable? If so, are there plans to do seasonal overlays for Christmas, Halloween, or Summer?

SD: Yes. In the future we will be doing overlays and new full length seasonal shows with the World of Color system. The infrastructure we have created is perfect for this approach.
He also had this to say about the viewing area...
MC: What is your favorite spot to watch the show from?

SD: I love many spots. I love the front where the show is up close and personal. Then there's the back levels where you see the EPIC scale of the show. There are also times I love to watch from the side by the Symphony Swings. It's cool to see the water in action. You get a very unique perspective from the sides.
Here is the whole article with amazing photos...spoiler alert for all those wanting to avoid too much coverage before seeing it in person...

It is cool to see what those dome things are like when they are in use...those are one of the things I have wondered about most!

I know I did have one saved in my Youtube collection that was ripped from the live stream. I'll look at these too.
