I think this can all be answered on the bottom of page 7. I posted a link to a youtube video which is the intro to the parade. It is presented as the MSEP.mindflipper wrote:Now that the parade has re-started in the Magic Kingdom...does anyone know which soundtrack they're using? And if it's "Disney Electrical Parade" or is it "Main Street Electrical Parade"?Len90 wrote:It should be interesting to hear the soundtrack that they play for it. Will it be the updated version or will it be the old version from when the parade was there at the turn of the century.
Since the parade returned to DLR DCA in 2001, the Disney's Electrical Parade has used a brand new electro-synthesized score using the Baroque Hoedown from the original score. The score was probably composed at the same time the music was composed for TDL's Electrical Parade Dreamlights, which started in Japan a month earlier than DEP started at DLR DCA. Both share many of the same underliners. So can anyone tell if they're using the original Don Dorsey score or the 2001 new score?

My bad, I missed that link. It also answers another question too: the soundtrack is the 2001 new score and not the original Don Dorsey soundtrack.Len90 wrote:I think this can all be answered on the bottom of page 7. No worries. Glad that was able to answer all your questions about it. Would have been nice to be the old music, but it is what it is.

You could load it up on your iphone and play it while listening with your earbuds as the parade rolls by....Len90 wrote:No worries. Glad that was able to answer all your questions about it. Would have been nice to be the old music, but it is what it is.

I think the music is enhanced/cleaned-up, but still true to the original score. Isn't that what they said on Len90's video link? I went in the 80's & 90's & 2001 and didn't notice any major differences in the music. Now I'm really curious to see this parade!
BTW, great link Len90!

Re: Main Street Electrical Parade returns.
In the original, the underliner sounded exactly like the original Baroque Hoedown from 1967 album by Jean-Jacques Perrey and Gershon Kingsley. The 2001 version is the same music, different orchestration. Where it is really apparent that the music is different is the music for the string of floats such as the Dumbo & the Circus, Pinnochio, Captain Hook's ship, and Seven Dwarfs' Mine. If you listen to both versions for these floats, they do not match at all.greendoor678 wrote:I think the music is enhanced/cleaned-up, but still true to the original score. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll keep the EP through our visit in October (at least)! How can we convice Disney that they should keep it longer, especially with all the work going into moving it (for just 10 weeks?!?!?!)????!!!greendoor678 wrote:I think they will keep the MSEP longer than "they" are telling us. At least, that's what I'm hoping since we will be there in Oct. It just doesn't make sense to only keep it in FL for such a short time.

Re: Main Street Electrical Parade returns.
I've seen the current parade a few times since last Sunday, and was surprised by the score. The Baroque Hoedown theme is still played, but the entire soundtrack seems more...electric? digital? I don't know how quite to describe it. The individual floats don't seem to have specific audio as I was used to hearing before. It's still my favorite parade by far, but I wish they would keep the original soundtrack, or the one they've been using in DCA until recently. I heard the audio they use for this parade is from the Tokyo Disney version.

Re: Main Street Electrical Parade returns.
As TDL Electrical Parade Dreamlights started in June 2001 and Disney's Electrical Parade in July 2001 at DCA, I would presume the soundtrack for both were composed by the same person and recorded at the same time.Lion Sleeps Tonight wrote:I've seen the current parade a few times since last Sunday, and was surprised by the score. I wonder if they're doing this with all parades now?! With MVMCP, the parade floats used to have individual music, now it's all one song. But, Spectro has different music for each float, or am I confusing it with something else?!

Re: Main Street Electrical Parade returns.
DCA's EP has floats that TDL EPD does not - like Pinochio, Dumbo & the Circus, and the Patriotic Finale; while TDL EPD has floats that DCA's EPD does not - such as Winnie the Pooh, Monster's, Inc., Toy Story, Beauty & the Beast, the Swans, Bug's Life (now retired), and It's A Small World.
The TDL EPD and DLR DCA's EP have different music for each float just like Spectromagic, but for all the floats the both have in common they have the exact same music identically. Oddly enough, for those floats that DCA's EP has that TDL EPD does not the music is still all electronic/digital like the rest of the floats. However, with TDL EPD, however, the floats can be an odd mixture of the electronic/digital and orchestral and vocal choir (such as the Cinderella floats).

Re: Main Street Electrical Parade returns.
Thanks for the information. I'm still not too keen on the current soundtrack, but as long as the Main Street Electrical Parade keeps the Baroque Hoedown, I will still love it. Tinkerbell is something I still have to get used to...mindflipper wrote:DCA's EP has floats that TDL EPD does not - like Pinochio, Dumbo & the Circus, and the Patriotic Finale; while TDL EPD has floats that DCA's EPD does not - such as Winnie the Pooh, Monster's, Inc., Toy Story, Beauty & the Beast, the Swans, Bug's Life (now retired), and It's A Small World.

Re: Main Street Electrical Parade returns.
All the times we've been to WDW, all we've ever seen is Spectromagic. I would love to be able to see MSEP too, but from what I've heard, it won't be there in December. Anybody know anything different about that? (sorry if this was answered somewhere earlier, but didn't see it....)
Re: Main Street Electrical Parade returns.
So I'm planning on riding Tower to see it's new effects for the summer and then heading over to MK to see the Main Street Electrical Parade (that's what I've heard it referred to as for years so that is what I'll call it even if it says Disney's Electrical Parade on one of the floats or not) and the new fireworks show on Wednesday. I'll have pics on Thursday for anyone who wants to see them.
