Thats weird, you would think with all the summer traffic Disney would open Wol. :?

Maybe this rumor from http://www.wdwmagic.com is true, since WOL remains closed:

7 August 2005: Wonders of Life closed permanently?

There are unconfirmed rumors circulating amongst Epcot cast that the Wonders of Life pavilion has now closed for good, and will not reopen to guests in it's current form.

Sounds like they pulled it from the new maps too. I would assume the rumors are now going to start about what is going to happen with the area... :D

Test Track is impressive but Mission: Space just doesn't cut it for me - and not to mention I'm the only one in my family that can even ride that one.

There was something about the old rides at Epcot that was neat - but they just had to go mess with Figment, Horizons, and WoM instead of just bringing them up to date. Bring back the classics in Epcot!

Exactly! WDW has no shortage of space. Why do they destroy the great rides? You could have added Mission Space to the Horizons Pavillion and Test Track to the World of Motion Pavillion. It's not like the track goes over anything nice as it is now.

As for Wonders of Life, this is a classic example of Disney dropping the ball and letting their attractions fall to pieces. I've talked with some of the Imagineers responisble for WOL and they put their hearts and souls into the project. If Disney won't continue to fund it, they just cover it up.. Look at Earth Station, it's still there. At the end of Space Ship Earth you used to walk into a futuristic city hall and it was awesome. It's still there. They just covered it up with black cloth and walls. So now the exit to SSE is creepy.

Rumor has it that they want to gut Universe of Energy and install the Monsters Inc ride there. Why don't they keep UofE and have a moving walk way take you into the old WOL building where the Monsters ride could be? Similar to the layout of Soarin.

They can't gut UofE! If Epcot is supposed to be about a look into the future, they need to keep the UofE because it hints at the need to find and use renewable energy resources. And because it is a classic. I know, but WofM and Horizons were classics too. It was horrible to see those go, and the changes to SSE have made it not nearly as good as it used to be also. But they have to draw the line somewhere. The only reason they're changing all of these rides is because they want to cash in more on the recent movies that have made so much money. If they want to use the movies to bring in more money, then use that ton of land and ton of cash you have to put in a completely new pavilian with a movie based ride instead of ripping up the rides that your repeat customers have kept coming back to see for the past 15 years.

i think it had to do with cost, traffic and desire to do something different. One thing is for darn sure, aside from soarin, mexico, norway, test track and spaceship earth, there is a lot to be improved upon and i only hope that mt. everest is awesome enought to spend more then half a day there.

let's keep the thread on topic, please. If you'd like to talk about upcoming trips and which park(s)/attractions you plan on doing, please move to the "trip planning and reports" forum.

I just got off the phone with a buddy at WDI who states that TimeKeeper is slated to go down quite soon. I know it's used primarily to do Character meet and Greets right now, but they are talking about putting an E-Ticket there in 1-2 years. That's all he will tell me.
