Oh darn, I just checked and that's right in the middle of the work week. There that goes!
That's a bummer! :(
If there's one thing I've learned over the past (almost) year of being a member of D23, it's that they are willing to listen to what people have to say. They want the opinions of the members so they know what they can do to make it a better experience for everyone. We got to talking to one of the D23 guys at the anniversary party and as soon as we mentioned that we had been to the expo, he lit up. He told us that he is one of the guys in charge of the expo and he began to ask us questions about what we liked, what could be improved, and so on. He was genuinely listening to both the praises and concerns we had.

So far, all of the D23 people we have talked to have been very accessible and easy to talk to.

They just completed the first year, so they are trying to see what works and what doesn't. I expect that it will be a few years until they really have the ball rolling...until then, I plan on sticking with it. I'm sure it can only get better from here on out! :D

Our memberships are up for renewal soon, and I was questioning whether we should even bother, seeing as how we've done nothing with it except buy some goodies. By my dear Mouseoholic says she'll let her charter membership lapse when they pry it from her cold, dead mousekepaws. Apparently, if you're a charter member, that's extra special. I sure wish I had the time to figure out just what we're a part of with D23. I still have no clue what it's all about except for some club events that we couldn't even go to. *sigh* .... so much Disney, so little time.

I agree with you Mousekedude and I did just renew my membership as it was up at the end of May. I am kind of like Mouseoholic and don't want to give up the charter member prestige. I didn't get to attend any events, but I did enter 2 of the contests and won a book in one...still waiting (and hoping) to hear the outcome on the other contest. I popped for the gold or elite membership in order to get the magazine...I don't think it is as good as the original Disney Magazine from years ago but at least it gives me something to hold for my money...

Same here...we don't want to part with the charter membership either! Hey, are any of you planning to go to the Expo next year? We are for sure! There's supposed to be a "charter members only" lounge area or something...we're looking forward to that. I think as the club ages, there will be more perks for charter year members...especially since they just finished their "charter year". :)

I know I am suckered in by that "charter member" designation...but...
As far as Expo, that would be a blast, not sure where that trip would figure into the schedule though...I'm guessing there is a biiiiig crowd at that too, and I am not good with crowds of people :(

My mousekewife says it would be cool to go. She mentioned it to me a couple weeks ago, actually. The "charter members only" thing sounded appealing.
I'm with Amy on the crowd thing, though. Isn't it funny how a person can be so Disney-addicted and yet not like crowds? We're so conflicted....!

Now I can't speak for next year's expo, but last year's expo was less crowded than a normal day at DL. Yes, there were crowds when it came to waiting in line for the various events, but waiting in line is way different than being jumbled in a crowd. When we were walking the exhibit floor, there was hardly anyone...especially during the first hour when only D23 members could go in.

That definitely makes it sound more appealing :D

I think when the numbers came in, it was roughly 10,000 people per day. Keeping in mind that not everyone stayed for the entire day and like I said before, most people were waiting in lines for various presentations. I don't like crowds either (clautrophobic) but I had no problems whatsoever...and upstairs where most of the presentations were had huge windows with some great views, so that helped as well. There was even a nice outside eating area on the roof and you could look over the wall at DL & DCA. (In fact, that picture of Maliboomer I used for the "Where in DL" thread was taken from that spot.)
Definitely consider the trip...plus with DL & DCA across the street, it makes for a great time. 3 days of Expo and a couple of days at the parks!

D-23 is a waste of time. If you want to feel like an entitled Disney fan, then go become an Annual Passholder.
