What is the Yeti supposed to do? I've seen this in several different places now that he is broken and needs to be fixed. Having never been on the ride I am at a loss as to what he might do...is it like the Abominable Snowman in the Matterhorn because he is a little less than exciting...
The Yeti is actually supposed to lean over and swipe at the passing train. Now his back is broken (or so I hear) and he can't do a thing... Sad really.

I think one of the reasons I love DHS so much is b/c I love that whole era! The Hollywood that never was and the ToT is my most fav. attraction, I love the ride, but I'm also a huge Twilight Zone fan, so that is right up my ally! AK is a cool park, but it just lacks something for me?!

Oh...I would think they would fix that since the attraction isn't really all that old! And it obviously draws the attention of a lot of people that it is not functioning - bad show :(

I could go without DHS for a trip. In fact I did go without it for a 4 day trip. I've seen and done everything that I would want to do in the park, and even though I have still yet to ride Toy Story Mania! and watch the American Idol Experience, I'm still more motivated to go to MK, EPCOT, and AK.

If I could only go to 3 parks it would be MK, Epcot and DS. I do love AK, but since it closes early and is hotter/more humid I usually opt to leave early since they aren't open after dark when things cool off. I've not had the opportunity to go to an after-hours even at AK.

The information I have on the Yeti is that he's not going to get fixed for awhile. Because of the way the ride is engineered a fix is very expensive. The way I've been told is that his foundation is cracked and to fix it they ride would have be closed for quite a long time and Disney is not going to do that for a very long time.

Is it a really huge Yeti? That would be bad to have such a new attraction down for an extended time frame...it must be in a fairly inaccessible location to be unable to fix it without shutting things down for a long time :(

EE is three different foundation and structures built on top of each other. The engineering is amazingly difficult, complicated, and expensive. From what I understand Disney engineers under estimated the stresses that the moving Yeti would put on it's own structure. I believe the fix is equally complicated and very expensive.

I still get startled on the Matterhorn when I see the Snowman standing there with his blinking red eyes in all his roaring glory! I couldn't imagine seeing a Yeti...broken or not!

Huh... I've kinda been out of the WDW loop for a while (aimed more towards DCL) so I was tricked into believing that the Yeti was deemed "too scary" so they turned the lights aimed at him off. I was a bit skeptical of this, since I was never really scared by him, but I just kinda hopped on, expecting not to see him/her.

I think what they did in the mean time is okay. They've placed strobe lights on the Yeti, making it seem somewhat scarier, as you can't see as you are passing under him. (I've been on the ride 168 times, and it was the first time I actually ducked.)

Hopefully they'll be able to find a time slot where they can quickly fix the Yeti, as it is a big part of EE. Unfortunately, closing Everest will be a big blow to AK's daily attendance.

I think I must be the only soul on the planet whose favorite park is Ak and least favorite MK.

You might be right with that one.

Four out of the five voices in my head are telling me you're crazy. The fifth is at Animal Kingdom right now and doesn't want to comment....

Kidding. We love AK too. It's hard to put one park above another in terms of favorites. We have different favorites for different things. There really isn't one perfect way to judge which park is better than the others. They all have a special place in our hearts for different reasons. It all depends on what mood we happen to be in...
...and which of the voices happens to speak the loudest at any given time...
