Ice Cream Troubles?

Post by noledawg » May Mon 31, 2010 9:37 am

Anyone else had any ice cream troubles at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor? I was there in November and we had some trouble acquiring scooped ice cream. The cone was filled with what was (presumably) meant to be scooped ice cream, but had clearly decided it preferred a life as soft serve. The cast member, wanting to grant this last dying wish, obliged and proceeded to take the cone and turn it upside down into a cup, then presented this to me with nary a smile, nod, or "thank you."

I indicated that this was not acceptable, and she indicated that the ice cream is melting and it would just fall apart anyway. Rather than get into a debate regarding the appropriate temperature of the freezer on a non-summer evening, I politely requested that it be scooped again. Amazingly, this second scoop stayed firm and within the confines of the cone. Neither a cup nor spoon required.

Anyway, this was unique for me, as I've always had a good experience there since I was a kid, and this is going on 40 years.

Comments? Thanks!

I was wondering what flavor that was.

I believe it was chocolate.

Oh see, that was your problem...chocolate is SUPPOSED to be served soft...that's just how it is! :ccat:

I did get a cone with a hole in the bottom once and when I complained the lady said, suck it from the bottom honey.
I was so shocked I kept the cone.

WOW! We've never had this trouble before but then again, we don't visit the Plaza Ice Cream parlor on every trip. It's always smells so inviting though, the fresh cones! I'm sorry you had that experience, hopefully that was a CM just having a bad day??!

I noticed that if a bunch of people in front of you get it in a cup then that almost becomes their default and they forget to ask.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.
