wdw at night

Post by nicklesm17 » May Mon 31, 2010 3:47 pm

i saw a few posts in the "snap your fingers and you're there" thread about people's favorite night time places. i think this would be an interesting offering on it's own. to me, many of the most magical memories at disney are after dark. i have a few favorites at each park (yes even AK, on a magic hours evening), and many of the resorts too. always exploring and trying to see something new w/ every year's trip, i'd be happy to hear of a spot i've missed. any personal favorites? i know there's alot, maybe rate your top 5 by #.

I like to watch the fireworks around Mrs. Potts Ice Cream in Fantasyland. It's a great place where you can sit and have a cool dessert while enjoying the show without someone standing right in front of you!

I also like to pick out a spot at the Poly, grab a hot coffee and watch the Electrical Water Parade (and fireworks) with a cool breeze coming off Bay Lake

My top 5 night time spots in Disney:

5. Fantasia Gardens, you can see the Fantasmic fireworks and the ToT

4. The Swiss Family Treehouse, the views of Tomorrowland from here at night are spectacular!!!

3. Main St. USA, I get the tingles just thinking about Main St. at night! So beautiful!

2. Worldshowcase, I love seeing the countires all lit up, just breathtaking! Also, after Illumniations, being one of the last ones to exit the park!

1. The beach at the Poly, we love to grab a spot, get our Dole Whips and watch the water pageant and then Wishes! They pipe the music in so you can hear!

never thought to look cross park up in the swiss family treehouse. i'm actually kind of surprised that it's open after dark. w/ liability an issue these days, for some patrons, falling down the stairs seems a possibility. silly as it sounds, SFT and carousel of progress are always a must stop for me on every trip. i'll make a note to stop by after dark next time. i had intended to go to the grand floridian (narcoossee's) last trip and watch the water parade from their shore. ended up not happening, but now it seems the popular vote goes for viewing at the poly, so i may have to re-think that. thanks.

I actually got to go on the Jungle Cruise at night (at DL) the last time we were there. I was amazed at how different the ride was at night!

i'm starting to feel like a WDW novice. this is the problem when you think you've seen it all. i seem to remember alot of this area being closed during the extended magic hours in the past, so i just kind of bypass it. i can imagine the jungle cruise (cheesy, but fun during the day) really would be cool during the night. i'd never even have thought of it. these are great suggestions.

I had thought about the treehouse being a liability too, you really have to watch the steps so you don't wipe out! And how could I forget about Jungle Cruise at night! We did that on our last trip, and loved it! :D

I have two that come to mind...
-Walking out of EPCOT after Illuminations. I have that glow from the fireworks and "everything is going to be alright" feeling while looking at the 'ball' all lit up in orange-ish colors.
-Crossing the Tomorrowland bridge and looking to the left seeing Main St all lit up (I agree with all of your comments about Main St--I am misty just thinking about it) and looking to the right and seeing the Castle in all different colors, knowing that in just minutes, Tink will fly off of it drawing a gasp from the crowd.

My most favorite nighttime treat is the fiber optic sidewalk lights outside Innoventions in EPCOT. I could look at those and listen to the Fountain of Nations music in the background for hours!

To me it's hard to beat Tomorrowland at night. The lights and everything just ooze "futuristic Disney". Innoventions in Epcot has the same feel to it after the sun goes down.

I love looking across the lake at the lights of the BoardWalk from the shore of the Beach Club.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.
