Is this part of that new "Best Rate" program? I was actually glad when that came about... I no longer had to decide whether or not to get an AP for the best deal, since it just doesn't work that way any longer...
So, what rate did you get at AKL?

Yes the passholder best rate program. Its very convenient to be able to secure the best price for rooms without calling disney reservations. Now if we only could make dining res. online, maybe soon. I booked AKL for 129-per night, thats not bad considering I have never paid under 200- per night before.

Cool. Hopefully this program will come to DLR in Anaheim soon.

Is this ALL passholders or only WDW passholders?

I am not a fan of the best rate program with the no refund policy. I personally feel WDW is making it harder and harder for me to justify renewing my AP each year. They keep taking away perks from AP holders who have been faithful to Disney through their tough times over the past few years -- just a sore point for me as it kinda feels they're biting the hand that feeds them.

But that's the point. They're trying to thin the ranks of the APs... and with good reason, in my opinion (this from a Disneyland AP)... I'm sure it's different at WDW, but there are so many locals on there little $90 SoCal season passes who drop their kids off and they just run amok all day... it's crazy.
Plus, if you read any of Kevin Yee's articles over at
MiceAge, he makes good arguments about why Disney should make WDW for the visiting tourist, and not the AP'er... more money for more/bigger/better attractions, that everyone... even AP'ers... get to enjoy.

I somewhat agree. I wish that they didn't require a non-refundable deposit. Emergencies happen, and I think it is unfair to keep one night's stay's worth of cash.
However, I understand their desire to do this. I think there was a lot of 'abuse' of the AP booking program in the past. However, I think there were other ways to reign this in other than requiring the non-refundable deposit. Perhaps they could have just had a more strict cancellation policy requiring more days out in order to have a penalty-free cancellation. Just my two cents...

It didn't take long for this to fall by the wayside, did it?

JKM, you can still book online, it's just the Best Rate program is gone. They are still trying to encourage passholders to book online. That could have changed in the past week, however... LOL!

I didn't know you could still book on-line, but that Best Rate Program sure was a flop, wasn't it?

Yea, the BRP was not widely enjoyed at all. As an AP holder, I'm glad to see the old style back in place.

You can access the booking area (if it's up - been mostly iffy lately) by inserting the voucher number on the back of the card when you receive it.
