(1) Put something on the left side of the park between Africa and CMM ... I seem to remember that area always looked pretty barren; there should be enough room for a new area over there without removing CMM ...
(2) Fix the Yeti!!! I've heard that technically, this would be extremely difficult (has to do with the frame for the ride shaking so much) but hey, they're Imagineers, they gotta know something
(3) Strengthen the Dino-Rama area ... hear me out here ... Disney could actually do some pretty decent stuff with the theme without outright eliminating/changing it, if they actually tried. I think they could make Primeval Whirl (for example) look quite nice if, say, they added some walls and covered up the blue steel with fake rock.
(4) Scrap the whole "poaching" thing in Kilimanjaro Safaris ... it's old and pointless; yeah, they need something for that long stretch back to the exit, but that part gets needlessly and extremely rough for a ride where you're supposed to have your cameras out and ready. Though it would make a pretty cool ride itself, it's like two separate things are joined together

I totally agree. I actually got to see the AK during CM previews way back when, and the story line was even more pronounced, complete with a Cast member holding a gun standing next to that truck with the baby elephant. It's extra jerky and hokey. Yuck. I wonder if the thinking was something like "we have this space that's no longer safari and we can't leave it without a story!" as if people are incapable of enjoying the beautiful scenery along the ride back to the staging area. I'd much rather the driver point out some interesting foliage than have to ride through the whole "catch the poachers" storyline.IMFearless wrote: (4) Scrap the whole "poaching" thing in Kilimanjaro Safaris ... it's old and pointless; yeah, they need something for that long stretch back to the exit, but that part gets needlessly and extremely rough for a ride where you're supposed to have your cameras out and ready. Re: And to make it complete....how about Animal Kingdom?
I like Dinoland.
It's really retro amusement park, in the days before disney.
I would add a cotton candy stand there, and maybe a barker and water point and shoot game.
And I would warn people who get tea at the tea kiosk on the way to the Yeti that it is scaldingly hot and NOT meant to be stirred...I learned both the hard way. It's delicious tea tho, and on a winter morning, a great treat.
And, if they don't do it already, and just because I haven't seen it doesn't mean they don't do it, I would post near the entry to the park, the "new arrivals" at the wild animal baby care center...like, baby elephant born and date, or baby giraffe...well, new born animals.

Re: And to make it complete....how about Animal Kingdom?
AK's main problem is that it does not have enough attractions. Because it does not have enough attractions, they can't afford to take any of them down for maintenance without causing a major capacity problem. So the attractions skimp by with only the bare minimum amount of maintenance to keep them operating. Dinosaur is almost nothing but a bouncy ride through total darkness, punctuated with occasional strobe lights and sound effects. One of these days I fully expect to see all the Animatronic dinos replaced by inflatable pool toys and Cast Members in rubber Halloween masks. If only they would have followed through on some of the original concepts, like Beastly Kingdom and the Dinoland coaster, the park would be in much better shape now. Sadly, it was built during the era of "anything that isn't cheap isn't worth doing" at the Company. If something's not done fairly soon, I think AK will become a major embarrassment to Disney.

Throwing my vote into redoing Dinoland carnival, as well - it never seems to fit in whenever I pass by (trying to ignore it).
Oasis could use some improvements...I actually enjoy some of the animals there as I do not see a lot of them where I live, but the Oasis always ends up being way down on my list of things to do when at AK
The train ride to Rafiki's could use some theming - I am thinking of something like TTA to the MK train where it is ok to see the backsides of the park, but are still so memorable.

I am not an Animal Kingdom fan at all. Been to WDW hundreds of times, and I usually avoid the park altogether. Too hot. Small walkways. Not enough to do. When we want to go to the zoo, we have a great one here in Miami. Went there again this past May because my son wanted to go on Everest. Seriously, not my thing. We will be at WDW for 9 days in a month, and we are not planning on going to AK at all! I am so a Disney fan, and it sound very un-Disney like coming from me, but just my opinion. If there is someone who has not gone there yet, I would suggest, going there at the opening, riding and/or seeing the 3 or 4 major things then leave by noon! Dinosaur, Everest, Bugs Life and Safari!

For some reason AK always seems hotter to me than the other parks...except for Epcot walking world showcase. It also feels concrete. I've never thought about it having fewer attractions, and I certainly never counted, but next time I go I am going to get a map and count...but then there is the issue of "fewer" but maybe "larger." Their stage shows are events unlike anything offered in the other parks.
And the special bird show, I am sure it has a name, is entertaining, educational, really delightful. These are not animatronic birds, they are a touch of nature.

We hadn't gone to the Flights of Wonder until the last time we visited the Animal Kingdom but wow! what a show it was...we thoroughly enjoyed it...kcookiebaker wrote:For some reason AK always seems hotter to me than the other parks...except for Epcot walking world showcase. I'm wondering if once the Disney California Adventure remodel is complete if the next park to be completely rehabbed will be AK. I think AK has a better showing than the current DCA, so that is why DCA got the funding first. I wouldn't be surprised if in 3 years or so, AK will see a complete makeover.

That is an interesting thought - some things could definitely be tweaked in the AK. I hope they leave It's Tough To Be a Bug alone though - I like that showMmeLeota wrote:I'm wondering if once the Disney California Adventure remodel is complete if the next park to be completely rehabbed will be AK. A teleporter straight to Everest would be awesome.
I think there needs to be another E Ticket attraction somewhere to take all of the focus off of Everest. That and some table service restaurants other than Yak and Yeti's, which is pretty good.

I agree with others who say that the Yeti needs to be repaired...but since I love the Africa and Asia areas of AK I'd like to have them add "the Americas" area. They could have the North America section with buffalo, mountain goats, prairie dogs, bighorn sheep, etc. And then for the South/Central America section have monkeys, jaguars, river dophins, poison dart frogs, alapacas, penguins, etc. Now when it comes to attractions, I have a harder time thinking something up...but I suppose they could have a 3-D Simpsons/Star Tours type ride attraction that took you from careening down the Rocky Mountains in Canada to going over the Iguazu Falls in Argentina to swimming with seals in the Galapagos, etc. But I'm sure others, including the Imagineers could come up with something better than that.
