Re: Splash Moutain Fear
I have a problem with Splash Mountain it makes me feel sick for a while after riding. I think its the angle of the drop, I like the ride I just don't like how it makes me feel.
Everest on the other hand is so smooth but it does get the adrenalin running I always come of it a bit shaky but that passes in a couple of minutes.
Just for the record I am not a big coaster fan.

I wonder if the problem you have with Splash is related to it being on the water, that provides a different sensation with the jostling ~ do you ever have problems on regular boats? Or, perhaps you swallow too much water during splashdownSleepy90 wrote:I have a problem with Splash Mountain it makes me feel sick for a while after riding. I don't think it's the water Amy I can ride other log rides and I have no problem with Jurassic at Universal maybe it's the size of the logs.Amy wrote:I wonder if the problem you have with Splash is related to it being on the water, that provides a different sensation with the jostling ~ do you ever have problems on regular boats? I actually think the flume drop at Jurrassic over at USO IoA is worse than Splash Mountain's. It's more steep, longer, more speed and more splash.

Fears are irrational. Its hard to get someone to overcome their fear. They have to be ready. I would just stress how you think it would be special to get a pic of everyone. It would also be a good lesson to teach your little one about overcoming obstacles.
Re: Splash Moutain Fear
You are right longer and steeper but bigger boats as well. In the words of Tuvok "it's not logical" only splash makes me ill.mindflipper wrote:I actually think the flume drop at Jurrassic over at USO IoA is worse than Splash Mountain's. It's more steep, longer, more speed and more splash.

I agree that the Jurassic ride is steeper and faster.
Can you convince her that everything before that drop is just about the best Disney has to offer? It's true.

Re: Splash Moutain Fear
I honestly had a lot of issues with getting myself to go on ToT. The suspense alone will just make you chicken out. I found the immersing myself in the queue and telling myself that I would live through it got me to go on without a hassle. I will say I was a little scared by the effect of the elevator falling faster than the speed of gravity.Amy wrote:I psyched myself out totally one year before riding Tower of Terror. For me, concentrating on the theming made the anticipation 10 times worseOnce I went through the first drop I was laughing though ~ for me it is all about getting through the suspense!
Getting people who are thrill ride chickens to ride the thrill rides is extremely tough. You have to take small steps each and every time. Get them to try something just out of their range and gradually build them up to the big rides like Splash.

Actually, I can't stand the Star Trek from the Next Generation forward. I'm with the older generation trek fans. Original series was the best of lot, and to me it was a wise choice to reboot the movies based on that series.

I've tried the picture argument with her (our current picture of my son and me also has 4 random strangers in it) with no luck. I like the idea about overcoming obstacles, I'll try that one, thanks:)greendoor678 wrote:Fears are irrational. Its hard to get someone to overcome their fear. They have to be ready. Have to consider incentives? Y'know, like "if you'll ride it, I'll buy you a Dole Whip afterwards." Works with kids. Why not adults? Just got to find the right incentive that will entice her.

Re: Splash Moutain Fear
mindflipper is on to something here. Does she like purses? There's a Dooney & Burke Disney thread on here that she might like. It might cost you more but at least you'll get your picture!

Re: Splash Moutain Fear
You guys are wicked. Fear cannot be bought with a purse (or wristlet) no matter how cool.
