Get rid of what's there now - we've all seen it over and over, and put something new in its place. Also, more rides based on movies/TV. Star Tours, Indiana Jones (I would like to see the Temple of the Forbidden Eye replace the stunt show), car stunt show, ToT all fit the bill - but Little Mermaid, Beauty & Beast, and Fantasmic to me seem like Fantasyland more than DHS. How about re-do Fantasmic to movies? How about the stage shows be themed more to movies? I would love to see that park get back to it main theme. :mickey:
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There to be a few of us the appreciate this ride.

Add to TGMR!! Don't take away anything and bring back the first part with the Esta Williams movie! I bet most of you didn't know about the scene with the fountain and the all the female swimmers?

I remember that scene ~ that's gone? I haven't been for a looooong time, I think almost 10 years. So you don't think I've been deprived, my one brother and his family live in Cali. so we've been to DL twice in the years since...but I still think I have missed a lot of changes!

I thought I would be flayed if I suggested they replace Beauty and the Beast, but someone has already brought it up. Disney is usually really good at shows; I'd really like to see something new there. Same with Indy.

I'd remove the backstage tour altogether and use the space for something large and completely new, or two things large and new since the Canyon is so far from the main staging area.

I agree. Beauty and the Beast is a fantastic show! But I remember it at DL before it even showed up in FL. The movie will be celebrating 20 years (next year I think...can you believe it??? ) so I can see the logic in leaving it for a little while longer. But unless they are going to update the crap out of it, I think it's time for something new...same for Indy.

Sadly, that cannot happen any more. They removed the platform he was on when they redid Mickey Avenue into Pixar Place. If they were to bring him back, they would have to remove a lot of spots on the roof of GMR where they shoot the fireworks from.

That is an interesting tidbit MadEye! Wouldn't want Mickey Mouse en flambe!

Actually, it's only the houses from Golden Girls and Empty Nest. The shows were actually filmed in California. Those hollow houses were only used for brief shots in the show (did you ever notice they never had the cast film outside in front of the houses).

Actually, the Golden Girls house was full Facade. All the outside shots for that show were shot at an actual house in Miami and that is what the facade at the studios was based off of. And there were more than just two houses, I just can't remember which at the moment.

Put in an updated ride...Disney clearly has a bank of current movies it could use...Pirates alone could fill a room!
Yeah that is really dated. Since I've never seen it without the "Hat" I can't imagine it without it. To me it kind of symbolizes the park like the Epcot globe, Animal Kingdom tree, and the Magic Kingdom castle.

Without the hat that area has a whole different feel. IT"S GREAT!

Definitely the Hat. As for the facades they are no longer shown on the tour I don't think? The Backlot Tour is but a mere shell of its former shell consisting of:

a) the WWII PT boat scene
b) a walk through of a props shop with the majority of the props being from either crappy movies, or my personal favorite, the movie short they FORMERLY showed in that area with (was it Glenn Close?) trying to get her lottery ticket back on a NYC skyline
c) the much shortened tram ride featuring the wardrobe department, a "close up" of the Earful Tower, Catasrophe Canyon, and some miscellaneous vehicle props strewn along the road.
e) a walk through of the AFI exhibit which seems to always feature "AFI's top villains"- an interesting choice given it being Disney World and having the images of those loveable characters from Silence of the Lambs, the Shining, Aliens (though I guess they get a pass here huh? it IS in TGMR), and Psycho.

I don't think they've displayed the facades in years.

That's the other thing I would change; Leota mentioned Monster Sound Stage but I think it's more than that. When MGM first opened almost EVERY ATTRACTION at least contained if not featured audience participation. Monster Sound Stage and Superstar TV were the 2 biggies where they show was essentially dependent on audience participation, the tour used to be longer and had the WWII scene AND as I recall a scene from HISTK with a green screen and a giant bee (or did I make that up?), and I feel like I'm missing some. Indy's still there with its minimal, but still present, audience participation and now I suppose that's what AI is but that's almost cheating because they screen you for talent first! That was the fun of it, you never knew who they pulled! UO used to be the same way with all of their shows and stuff. What happened, did some dummy cut themselves on the sheet of metal recreating the sound of thunder some place and everyone started fearing law suits? Or is it just cause sound effects are computer generated now?

It was Bette Midler...

That sounds familiar, yeah, I think that was it, they chose a kid or two, and then showed them "flying" I always wanted to be selected but never was :(
Although the last time we went, my Mom and I got chosen for the water tank battle scene at the beginning, I think she was on the boat and I was at the tower thingie

Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey. Still used sound as the point of the attraction but it was all recorded and you put on headphones (that you have no clue who wore them before you I might add...) and it makes it seem like it's 3-D sound. It is open seasonally and for good reason.
One of the worst attraction swaps in history. We lost Monster SoundStage and gained Drew Carey. UGGGG

I think most people would agree (except for Jacca5660) that the whole park could use a massive renovation. Maybe Disney could think about this down the road after the MK Fantasyland Expansion/Renovation?
