This is what I hate the most! Everything has gotten to be so cheap (the food quality, the merchandise quality, the attractions...(hello, why do all the parks have to have the same attractions?) and the one that irks me the most..."Disney Parks" written on EVERYTHING) and yet we're gouged to the gills.

I never said I liked the guy...I have long hated him (and when Iger was made his successor...well, Eisner, Iger...the names sound too much alike if you ask me...whaddya know? They operate the same too).

However, I know there are 2 sides to every story and I always try to see both sides. (which explains my previous posts)

I'm not backing out...I was agreeing with mindflipper that not all decisions come down to the CEO.

But I am also agreeing with you that Eisner/Iger's idea of "give them less and charge more" has trickled down. (I hadn't exactly thought of it that way before)

But you know, I hate to admit it but WDW wouldn't be what it is today without him. It would still be a dying little park in the middle of a swamp, which is exactly what it was in 1980.

The only thing I would change is:
Do something (I don't know what) with the Imagination Pavilion--it was stone dead last time I was there.
If the much-maligned return of EO is indeed temporary, it's a good chance to start fresh when that run ends.

OK, Ellen's Energy is a little dry also, but it hurt more when the kicked Dreamfinder to the curb vs. adding Ellen.

A little dry???? ITA. Ellen is wonderful but they could have done something with the rest of the attraction... like maybe made it a real adventure?

The only reason Ellen's Energy Adventure isn't completely stale is because Ellen is still very relevant in pop culture. Everyone knows who she is and her brand of humor is classic. The only thing that dates it is that Alex Trebek no longer has a mustache. Other than that...it's not too bad.

I believe Exxon's sponsorship ran out a while ago...so there's no need to stick to fossil fuels for our energy...in terms of the attraction itself. They really could revamp the area to feature new and innovative ways of collecting and distributing energy. Only downside is that a lot of people love the dinosaurs and losing them would be a big deal.

I dunno...I do know that I will go on it on my next trip just because it's air conditioned and it's a great 45 minute break from the Florida sun and humidity.

I totally agree about Ellen herself--very funny.
It's the whole attraction that doesn't work for me (IMHO) (I like the comment about a 'real adventure'

I agree.

It's not Ellen that I dislike, it's the attraction as a whole that is lacking and is desperately in need of a complete reconceptualization.

I miss the old preshow that was designed by Emil Radok with all the slide projectors and the cubes that went in and out. Nightmare to maintain, but amazing to watch.

Anyone remember that?

Ellen is amazing! I look forward to that ride everytime we go to Epcot. I love it!! Still relevant in today's society and oh so funny!!

Soarin, I'm glad to hear you like it all. I love Ellen's preshow and the finale, but the rest of the time on those huge ride vehicles just puts me to sleep... I suppose I should see it as a welcome break from the rest of my day, but I'm usually just thinking of the rides I could be riding instead - like Soarin or Test Track.

I enjoy Ellen when I'm tired and need a break from the sun or walking around. Can't beat getting to sit inside for 45 minutes!

Though it probably could use some updating, the ride itself is a great concept. In my eye, probably the most educational thing Epcot boasts at the moment, seeing as energy and global warming and all is a big problem in our world at the moment.
