I never thought of it as an alternate show. I've seen both, the Gangster the most, but I've seen the other a bunch of times to.

I haven't been on that ride in ages. Usually just skip it. Now I'll have to make sure I do it again next time down.

I can remember back when my mom was wheelchair bound we always got gangster. And I do mean always. I preferred it that way; I've always liked the gangster version better and it goes through Alien slower. (yay!)

Great Movie Ride is my fav. attraction in that park. I have to do it every time I visit. Each time around is different, because chances are you'll get a different tour guide, gangster or bandit, each with their own personal flavor.

Very true. We went on it last July after taking a year off from it. We had a female tour guide who was from the Bronx and we were in the front with her. She ended up joking around with us and the second row and missed or was off timing on half her lines. I'll never forget that as we entered the gangster area, my brother and I turned to her and asked if we were in the Bronx and had just made a wrong turn. She ended up laughing through a few lines. She even whispered to my brother and I "I'll be back in a few minutes" when she had to go out for the gangster scene.

Needless to say, it was to date my best experience on the attraction. We were the rare summer time single vehicle. All the other loadings were for doubles.

Madeye, do the number of gangsters and bandits on hand determine the number of vehicles they do for each loading time? I know the tour guides rotate, but how do the bandits and gangsters do it?

After 20+ trips, we finally requested the bandit on our last trip, and saw it for the first time. Amazing that since 1994 we only saw the gangster. HOWEVER, we do not ride TGMR every trip, but still, odds would have us get the bandit at least once.

Well the odds are generally in one's favor to see the gangster as they don't always run the bandit scene. As I posted earlier I always assumed this had to do with peak seasons but I saw the bandit in mid October which I always thought was off-season? MadEye any insight?

I prefer Alien and Raiders over Tarzan and Casablanca and I always thought the gangsters were funnier than the bandits so I always preferred gangster cars, but now that it seems so rare to get the bandit show it almost makes me want to switch my preference :P

Sidenote: If you are on the bandit car you still have the guide for the Western scene so the whole John Wayne/Clint Eastwood scene is a little blander if you are on the bandit car. "Does anyone know the only movie John Wayne and Clint Eastwood starred in together? That's right, The Great Movie Ride!"

It is all up to whoever does the schedules for the week. Most of the time when there is a Bandit on hand, when they go on break, they do not load the vehicle until they come back. Usually there are 4 Gangsters in the building every day. Two teaming back to back and two on break. One on break always stays in the building just in case a Gangster can't make it to the next show. They usually do 10 shows, 5 each. Sometimes there is a Gangster that starts their day before one of the earlier Gangsters leaves for the day. Then a "Matrix" system is used. It is hard to explain but when it happens the Gangsters do less than 5 but more than 1 show a piece with 2 on break for however many shows each Gangster does until their time to take a vehicle comes up while, again, one Gangster stays in the building just in case.

Like I said above, it is up to the schedule. Not to mention they will always "pull" a Bandit before a Gangster to be a Guide if someone calls in sick.

I know, I have been kicking myself ever since. The Great Movie Ride CM was one offer and the second time I interviewed I was offered a lifeguard position. Unfortunately, family obligations required I remain in Michigan both times. :(
I haven't given up hope that one day I will be able to get there...sigh...

I've been on this ride numerous times and I've never seen a cowboy skit. It's always been the gangster skit and a drive through of the country scene. I usually go off season so maybe this has something to do with it.

hehehe...that was just riddled with typos as you can tell by the quote below...

Or just bad timing. As said before, you can ask if they are running the Bandit show or not. It helps.
