Satellite Pics from Google Maps

Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

Satellite Pics from Google Maps

Post by Club33Hopeful » Jul Wed 06, 2005 1:00 pm

I was playing around with google maps and located the parks. These are all centered on the hub (HK is a guess as the photo is during the beginning of construction):
Disneyland: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=33.81216 ... &t=k&hl=en

Walt Disney World: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=28.41872 ... &t=k&hl=en

Disneyland Paris: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=48.87267 ... &t=k&hl=en

Disneyland Tokyo: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=35.63295 ... &t=k&hl=en

I remember being able to look at satellite images of all of WDW on Mapquest. However, since 9/11 they have been unavailable. I remember that you used to be able to see satellite images of much of the USA (including my own street) on Mapquest. I don't know if you still can do that.

Heh heh... It's just an image difference... probably between different satellites with different resolutions.

That's it. They have compiled different sources and give you the best available. Zoom way out and you can see the patchwork.

I checked out the goole map yesterday of WDW. It's so cool! I followed the monorail track all the way around the parks. So cool!

It's cool that you can move the map around and look at the whole area. I never noticed that Mickey head before on the Disney World map. Is that a lake?

As much as I enjoyed the maps, it's a creepy "big brother is watching you" feeling to know that someone could zoom right down to the street you live on :( guess I better far go the nude sunbathing HA HA HA yah, like I would really do that, not a chance!

They surely can watch, and these images are low resolution compared to what the spy satellites can do. I remember when I was in school hearing that when Nixon was in China, our spy satellite took a picture of him, and they could see the pen in his pocket. That was over three decades ago. Imagine what they can do now.

Yah, I imagine they could tell me what I had for breakfast if they wanted to :) I work with someone who worked for the AF in the DOD and he has some interesting stories, but will not talk about any of the classified stuff and he has been retired for years. He said you take an oath and you take it to your grave. I was like oh shucks come on, give me some juicy stuff.....I got the often used line "If I tell ya' I'd have to kill ya." Ok, fine whatever, keep all the good stuff to yourself! I googled my boyfriends street, now if only I could get the mega zoom lens...ha ha ha

Yeah. It's in the middle of the motor speedway where they do the Richard Petty Driving Experience (or whatever it's called)...
