Although I've never stayed there, I've heard only nice things about the Port Orleans resort, very tucked away. Caribbean Beach was a nice get away, definitely a relaxing environment, although bus service seemed slow out there compared to the All-Stars.

We stayed at French Quarter for our Honeymoon a few years ago and to us it was perfect for a Honeymoon. It's very small and quiet and extremely romantic. You definitely get a New Orleans vibe and isn't over the top Disny. They do have the carriage ride, which I think is like $30 or $40. There is also a boat to Downtown Disney, which is nice and relaxing.
Since our Honeymoon, we've stayed at a few values and Coronado Springs, and we just haven't like either of them as much as POFQ.

We are very excited about staying at POR and already have an ADR for Boatwrights. I know we won't really need one, but I did it to help us with scheduling and to give us a little structure later in our trip. My fiance is a HUGE planner, so I am doing my best to get things planned for WDW without it feeling like a "planned" honeymoon. I figure if I plan enough in advance, the honeymoon will feel a lot more laid back because we won't be running around with our heads cut off.
I did schedule an ADR for Narcoossee's for one of the nights and did it early enough for us to get back in MK for Wishes (or whatever fireworks show they have during that time of summer). I know, it's fun to watch the fireworks from the resort restaurants, but I have done that several times and have never watched them from Main Street USA...so that is what we are doing this time around, by George.
I'm REALLY hoping they offer free dining for the time we are there (Aug 29 - Sept 3) since that is technically the end of summer and beginning of the value season. It would mean that we could use the dining plan instead of going a la cart which is looking like a better deal since my fiance doesn't eat enough to take advantage of the dining plan. We'll see though...just over 5 months to go!

My first suggestion is always the Poly. But, if you two want to go back to your resort and not feel like you're at Disney....then you could stay at the Poly and just not walk towards the beach/pool area b/c you'll see the Castle. My other recommendation would be the Yacht Club! Very relaxing and the pool is amazing! You can relax and forget you're in WDW if you wanted to. The clam bake at Cape May's is awesome! If you're looking for a moderate resort, then I would suggest POFQ. Very quiet and quant and the carriage ride is very romantic. I believe it was around $40, DH and I did this in '08 when we were there for our Anniversary.blue15os2004 wrote:We are going to be staying onsite. We are really waiting on the pricing and promotions for 2011 to come out before we decide. We are looking at the Poly, FW or the Carb. Beach. Any other suggestions. I was told that he wanted to be able to go back to the hotel and have it feel like we werent in disney. So i figured the values are not a choice.
Happy planning!!!!

You really make a great point about all those resorts you mentioned. As for the pricing and rates. You really don't know what the promotions will be like until a few months before. For instance, the summer promotion didn't come out until late Feb. early March. However, what I do know from last year is that if you book and a better rate becomes available, Disney will switch your reservation over to it.boilerbabe wrote:My first suggestion is always the Poly. I honestly don't know if you would be happy at Ft. Wilderness. You might want to look into Wilderness Lodge instead if you want a similar theme.

I really excited about going in January because both of the times that my DF and I have gone, once in July (Hotter than h***) and then again over New Years (2 parks were in code red) he really hasnt enjoyed it, which is sad. Thats why when he said it was ok to go back i was so happy, I thought i ruined him lol!!
Normally when we have gone we have not been able to really make dinner reservations because of the amount of people but i am so excited that we might actually be able to pick where we want to eat besides the line lol

Im very excited to start plannig does anyone know the time when Disney will come out with the prices for next year? We are registering at the travel agency, so our guests can purchase items and events that we want to do at disney instead of the typical wedding gifts! So in saying that I cant have the bridal party until after we book our trip.
