100 lanes for a bowling alley??? Isn't that a bit of an overkill?

I don't know if I like the Flamingo Crossing thing, sounds like Old Town in Kissimmee

I bet ESPN has something to do with the bowling. They might start having championship events there.

They planned the alley long before ESPN. And tourneys are planned for 2013.

Bowling? 100 lanes? I wonder if they'll make any of them candlepin. That would be cool.

For the major bowling tournament in 2013, they needed a large amount of lanes.

Good one kcarts on the candlepins. Anything is possible.

Who doesn't love candlepin bowling?!?!

As a kid, I actually thought that candlepin was normal bowling and ten pin was the regional thing.

Actually the only team that plays there is the Atlanta Braves, and only during spring training. I went to one of the games and watched them get rocked by the Phillies.

The Rays have played a couple of regular season series there in 07 and 08.

There's a bowling alley in Columbus that has if not 100 lanes then pretty close. I remember going there years ago and how awesome it was because you could rent two lanes at the same time for quicker play.

At Disney though, they really need a better way to get to the WWoS for those who don't have a car. Last time we went, the only way over there was taking the bus to the Studios and then transferring to another bus. (And I bet 99% of day guests don't even know that bus exists). It's not easy walking distance from any resort like the two miniature golf courses. Driving to big events isn't all that easy either - about 5 years ago we went to a spring training game and we ended up getting parked in some woods and had to follow a dirt path up to the stadium!

BTW there are no walls really up for the Fantasyland Expansion. There are some walls up, but not in that area. Just general renovations - no different than those areas being renovated on Main Street or the Castle. It seems like there was something up everywhere throughout the park.

Sounds a lot like the current state of DL. Construction walls everywhere as those small refurbishments go on.

Most of the construction is backstage behind Toon Town Fair, Pooh's playground, and Ariel's Grotto (btw, Ariel is moving to Adventureland next month for M&G). So most of the work isn't going to be seen until later in the year, if not next year.

Most of those other walls around the park, I think, are just for sprucing up the park (unless it is near the FLand Expansion, they've already changed the roof for Mrs. Potts Cupboard) . MK's 40th Birthday/Anniversary is next year.

Update: Pooh's Playful Spot and Ariel's Grotto will close on April 11th. Walls will go from Ariel's Grotto to Toon Town Fair.

Any word on the closing date for Toon Town fair? Will it last through the summer?
