In the past I would have said at a Grateful Dead concert in Cali, but since that has long past it would be the Magic Kingdom of course.

It's going to be crowded at any of the parks, of course, especially the Magic Kingdom. Although crowded, Pleasure Island used to be fun, too, and not as expensive to get in...ah, well... memories. I do think though both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT stand out a notch above Disney Studios, and equally so.

You are definitely correct. The fireworks now at DHS are not as impressive. I also believe that some of the old Sorcery in the Sky fireworks launchers are not around anymore due to the creation of Pixar Place.

Epcot for sure. Two fireworks displays, a few countries turning into a dance floor at around 8:00, live DJ, massive countdown placed on Spaceship Earth....

And then there's the epic midnight finale...

Ok, that was good...I can see and hear the benefits of going to Epcot on New Years Eve.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their insights and opinions about NWE. My wife and I ended up going to EPCOT and boy was it a great choice. Having not one but two Illuminations displays was an added bonus but the midnight fireworks, music festivities and the entire atmosphere of the park was awesome. However, the 2 hours of waiting to leave the parking lot were not so hot, but it is to be expected on NWE. I'd do it all again in a heart beat. :D

We were at the Magic Kingdom for New Years Eve several years ago. We took the latest reservation at Cinderella's Castle restaurant and figured from there, we'd wait for the NYE fireworks. Good plan! Unfortunately, it poured. I don't mean drizzled, I mean a deluge! The shot off all the fireworks about 7:30 when there was a break in the rain. We decided to stay, bought some ponchos, and had the park to ourselves. There were places on the concrete where the water was 4" deep! We got soaking wet, had dinner at the castle, bought the New Year's pins, and went back to the hotel - tired, full, and wet, but we had a blast. My kids still talk about that night.

Never been on NYE but I'd go to Epcot if I did!

I've been to both the MK and Epcot on New Year's Eve, and Epcot wins out for me. If you're looking for a party, it's got to be Epcot. If you want to see the rare perimeter fireworks display, though, go to the MK. There's nothing quite like a full perimeter display.

My friends went for NYE and ended up at the MK. Looking at the short videos, it was pretty awesome but I don't think I could handle that many people. I am not a crowd person and that many people would probably freak me out! From the discussion on here, sounds like EPCOT is the way to go though. Any hints on out of the crowd spots where you can still catch the show?
