Batman Begins, Fantastic 4...
Batman Begins rules! FINALLY - they did it right! A friend had the best quote; "Now, was that so hard?". Great job. Loved the Batmobile, too.
Fantastic Four - I worked on that movie (Makeup effects) and saw some of the dailies. Wasn't impressed. That was, without any of the digital inserted, however, but the acting...not so much.
War of the Worlds - Great movie. Terrifying. Horrible ending.

I am hesitant to see War of the Worlds. At first I was all set to see it asap, but then I just lost interest.ickymouse wrote:Batman Begins rules! FINALLY - they did it right! A friend had the best quote; "Now, was that so hard?". Great job. Loved the Batmobile, too.

I had a signifigant other at one timesubsonic wrote:I saw Mr. and Mrs Smith last night. It was good. It's probably funnier if you have a signifigant other.

I really like the movie, laughed out loud quite a bit. I was afraid it wasn't going to live up to the hype, but it certainly did. Of-course I left there awe-inspired to get in shape like Angelina Jolie, and I am still inspired

I too am hesitant. I have a feeling that they butchered the story for cinematic effect. Oh well, I'll add it to netflix.Lion Sleeps Tonight wrote:I am hesitant to see War of the Worlds. At first I was all set to see it asap, but then I just lost interest.

No No No, the effects and sound alone (not to mention, a score by my favorite composer, John Williams) are worth seeing it in the theater.Club33Hopeful wrote:I too am hesitant. I have a feeling that they butchered the story for cinematic effect. Oh well, I'll add it to netflix.
I liked War of the Worlds. Sure it's got it's flaws, but it's incredibly intense.

But how close is it to the book? I mean, this is the problem with Hollywood. They re-write clasics and completely change them. Godzilla really ticked me off. I am still trying to figure out what that was. They play on the name, and then feed you crap. However, now that I heard John Williams is involved, it is worth a see.

War O' the Worlds
The movie's incredible up until the last three minutes. The invasion scene (the first one) made me feel nauseous, it was so intense. Imagine the battle Scene from Private Ryan, The T-Rex scene from Jurassic Park and the Abduction scene from CE3K rolled into one.
Can't wait for King Kong, though. That's gonna be killer.

Wow. All three in one? That does sound quite intense. Maybe I'll see it this weekend then. John Williams is awesome.ickymouse wrote:The movie's incredible up until the last three minutes. WOTW - John Williams...
So, you like John Williams, huh? I liked his score for WOTW - very reminiscent of the 1950's Sci-Fi scores - very dramatic. Not quite as cool as Bernard Herrmann's "The Day the Earth Stood Still", but still creepy. My fave John Williams scores:
1. Jaws
2. Star Wars
3. Close Encounters
4. Raiders of the Lost Ark
5. The Fury
6. The Harry Potter series
7. E.T.
8. Dracula (Frank Langella)
9. Superman
10. Jurassic Park
BTW - I'm so mad I missed the Fourth of July concert at the Hollywood Bowl this year - they usually sell out (unless you have season boxes) and this year was no exception - They did a whole musical tribute to Disneyland, with costumed performers, Robert (or Richard) Sherman played, and they did all kinds of songs from the park, most noteably, Haunted Mansion music and stuff from Pirates of the Caribbean -!
SO mad! (SOUR GRAPES: I probably couldn't have gotten tickets, anyway!)

I don't ever listen to the critics today. All they like are movies where someone commits suicide, or is mentally retarded, or a movie that ends on such a downer. Critics hate to stretch their imagination, or even watch FUN movies anymore. For the record, it's MY review on my site of the FF movie.

Fantastic Four...
My friend (who did all the effects for the film) saw the movie and said it was actually good. That's a lot coming from an Effects guy (They hate everything).
