I am torn, I don't like advertising on the monorail but they technically have been advertising for the past couple years on it anyway and compared to the previous ones these actually look nice. No confetti, or balloons, or Stitch scattered all over the place.

All the cars are in dire need of repainting anyway so at least they will look cleaner for a while. Check this picture out of what Madeye saw yesterday, you can see how bad they are looking - the white seems so faded/dirty in contrast to the new wrap.

Yeah they need to get the monorails cleaned up. I think the TRON stuff on it will make it look cleaner for a while. I can't wait for the movie! It comes out on my birthday and I know where I'm going to be that day!

So, instead of cleaning up and repainting the monorail, we're gonna funnel that money instead into creating advertisements to slap over the disrepair hoping that people will see the ad and not the poor maintenance? That sounds too much like marketing logic (which is a contradiction in terms). Sounds like the wrong people are making the wrong decisions again... :(

I don't like it...doesn't look like the traditional disney monorail that I love to see from all the years...I didn't even like it when they painted some with that year of a million dreams logo "art" either

At least it looks cool, unlike the other garbage that's been spewed over the monorails recently. I don't mind occasional "plussings" as long as they are temporary and won't forever destroy something.

That said, it ceases to be special if the monorails are always covered in nonsense.

The balloons are horrible. They don't make any sense (are they implying the monorails are jammed full of balloons, with a strange sense of depth?) and they are flat-out ugly. What's more beautiful and iconic than the world-famous classic monorail design, which still manages to look futuristic half a century after its creation?

The key question to me is how much it will obscure the view from within the monorail. The tragedy of the balloons is that they detract from the original design, don't generate any particular positive association with anything, and BLOCK THE FRIGGIN' VIEW.

It's like a thousand candy birds pooped all over the monorail and no one has taken the time to scrape it all off.

One of the reasons to ride the monorail is the VIEW. I agree with the good captain on that!

I have to agree with Captain Schnemo on this. The balloons really hindered the view from the monorail. It made it nearly impossible to get any aerial pictures from inside due to the balloons.

It is a great point bringing up the fact that the monorails are going down one by one for this when the time could be used to paint the monorail. The monorails need a lot of attention in terms of major overhaul maintenance. Wasting the time and money on this is terrible. Yeah it might make the monorail look cool for a short time frame, but wait until the wrap starts cracking and chipping off during the summer. Definitely not something that Disney will want the guest to look at.

I agree it's a waste of money, but I believe the money comes the advertising budget and not maintenance.

Totally agree. I'm sure plenty of traditional fans will voice their opinions on 'defacing' the monorails. Hopefully it won't become a new tradition. I would hate to see "EAT AT TONY'S" on the monorails.

I fear it is a trend that will stay. For the past few years they have plastered their annual "theme" on the monorail. When one year gets rethemed so does the monorail. Now that there really is no theme, they make it a large moving billboard. Lasseter needs to terminate the board of WDW and install some people with class.

Though, I still like Tron.

You people are WAY INTO the monorails, sheesh. Oh, and you are terrified of change. The monorails are still there, the same boring looking monorails that have always been there.
Don't obstruct the view, I agree 100%, otherwise, have some fun w/'em! The Stitch, balloons, etc were not great, but was it really THAT aweful? And whether you agree w/the "graffitti" or not, the Tron ads are percfect for the monorails. They are the right shape & length & they move! What better for a Tron Bike ad then that!?! Everyone relax and enjoy it! It will be no time before they are a dirty beige w/a different color strip on them, yippee.

I think it's a good idea if it is on the EPCOT Monorails. If it is on the Magic Kingdom Monorails, then it's a bad idea. I like the way they look and can't wait to see them!

I personally am a a fan of change, when I see it is for the good. I honestly thought that the Stitch on the front of the monorails was pretty funny. I hated how the balloons ruined the great views from the monorail, but did like how it added a lot of color to the monorails. This however seems like all the monorails are going to look the same. Part of the fun of riding the monorail, at least for me, is that you get to see which color you will be riding. I am just hoping that the stripe is left visible so you can know which one you are on.

Remember, we are all entitled to our opinion on this. My opinion is it is a bad move.

I'm not against change - I'm against reducing the monorail into a shameless tacky commercial! It isn't a local metro bus - it's a DISNEY monorail - it is a themepark attraction itself! Should we start including commercials into the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Soarin' or Impressions de France? People have already paid for the ride - do they paid to get the ads too?
