I have never done this nor watched it. But from what I have been reading, it seems like a lot of fun!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How strick are they on walkers? DO we need to be speed walkers to participate?
I hope someone can answer your question for the 5K. I know there is a maximum minutes-per-mile for the Half and the Full Marathon (it's 16 minutes per mile) but I don't know about the 5K. Have you checked the official Disney running website?

http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/events/wdw-marathon/

I just checked. It's 16 minutes per mile for the 5K too.

It is MetalRage. I have only run two Disney races (and one outside of Disney  ) but I had a lot of fun on both. Be careful - reading these posts has been known to motivate

 It kinda has motivated me to do it. If I do end up doing it, it won't be for awhile.

I guess my questions is how do they enforce the 16 miles per hour thing? Is is really yucky feeling to be at the back? Or do people not really care it is just the fact you did at your pace?

They have sweepers at the back Mamabaminjamin that collect up all the people who are not doing the desired pace.

Right, I've heard of people that were 1/4 mile from the finish that got swept during the 2010 race. Guess Disney's pretty strict about it. Not sure how much it effects traffic?

Can anyone tell me the route of the race? We are trying to decide what resort would be the best to stay at. Any suggestions?

Awesome withspirit!!! Tell your DW Congrats from me!!!

Mamabaminjamin: I believe for the races in Disney they set a pace time. You have to maintain a 16 min. mile. At least that's how it was for the 1/2, the Minnie Marathon and the ToT run. If you go to the race web site, it should give you that info. Have fun!!! :D

She just got back last night and I gave her your congratulations. She is very happy with her race time and the time she got to spend at Disney with her Mom.

Isn't it great to be part of a Disney family! :D

Are you running?

It starts and finishes in the Epcot parking lot.

Here is the map.... http://adisneyworldsports.disney.go.com ... rseMap.pdf

I can tell you from being there this year that there is no quick, easy way to get to the start/finish from any resort.

Mt DW had a few friends that ran. She told me the BIG complaint was a lack of poter Johns for the ladies. From the picture I got, it sounded a bit nasty.
