2 weeks away from WDW Any suggestions?

rphillips14, not sure if this is something up your alley but I just saw that the Dropkick Murphys are playing at the HOB on March 7th in DTD. Not really a "family" show/concert but since you are staying at PO-R it's a short boat ride and if it's an early night for the kids you can head over.

If you don't know the band, they are an Irish rock/punk band with a little old-school folk thrown in and they are most known for the song in the movie The Departed. They put on a GREAT show but if you aren't into the mosh pit scene just stay away from the first 10 rows.

They are playing in Atlantic City tonight and was going to go but we are getting a foot of snow here in Phily/Jersey area so unsure if we are going - BLAST!

Anyway, they might not even be up your alley but thought I'd share.....I would love to see them down there!

Soulz, I would LOVE to see the Dropkick Murphys (I especially love the New England Patriots commercial in which they do the sound), but we have no other options for the kids and our night is already scheduled late. But thank you for the info and if something changes....

We are just 4 days and a wakeup from Disney. We are all crazy excited. For the most part, we're already packed.

Here are the places we have table reservations for:

Wilderness Canyon/Wilderness Lodge (Riding a Boat)
Prime Time Cafe (HS)
Akershus Princess Breakfast (E)
Garden Grille (E)
Rainforest Cafe (DTD)
Liberty Tree Tavern (WDW)
1900 Park Fare/Grand Floridian
Sci Fi Dinner Theater (HS) My Personal Favorite
Tony's Town Square (MK)
Chef Mickey/Contemporary (Riding the Monorail)

Other places we plan to eat:
El Pirata y el perico (MK)
Fairfax Fare (HS)
Flame TRee or Pizzafari (AK) (we haven't decided)
Columbia Harbour House (MK)
Pizza Planet (HS)
Pecos Bill or Cosmic Rays (MK) (we haven't decided)

Anybody have any thoughts or opinions on our choices? We sure need some help deciding on Flame Tree or Pizzafari and Pecos Bills or Cosmic Rays.

No, we're flying. We would lose a day each way if we drove. So we fly to get more park time.

I like your dining list a lot. Is 1900 Park Fare going to be a breakfast or Dinner? If it is a breakfast please report back on how it was. Wilderness canyon, I guess Whispering Canyon maybe? That is a great restaurant and the servers are excellent. Prime Time is excellent. Please let me know which server you have there.

As for deciding between those other places, the only one of the 4 that I really have anything to say about is Cosmic Rays. It is good, but always very busy.

Any of those are good, but my choices would be Flame Tree and Cosmic Rays.

Agree. Pizzafari is pretty weak. Disney pizza at the counter service is not very good. Good ribs & bbq at Flametree. Pecos Bills is one of the better counter service at WDW - definately best at MK. If you need more choices, Cosmic Rays is good. The only problem with CRs is that you have 3 lines for the 3 different menus.

Yes, it's best if it's only adults or adults older kids that can order their own food from whichever station they want (each paying with the dining plan, charge to room, or cash depending on what the family is doing) and then meet at a table. It's a bit trickier with younger kids, but as long as you can get everyone's food at 2 stations then one parent can go a station and order whatever someone wants from there. You're only in trouble if you've got 2 adults with young kids and someone wants something from every station.

March is usually good weather - providing there's no rain. It can be a rainy month for Florida. My fingers are crossed for you.

As you have a young daughter - have you checked out any of the character dining? I wouldn't suggest if for teens, but young kids really seem to get a kick out of character dining. I have two friends that have told me that they order the cheapest thing on the kid menu when they went with their kids because their kids were so caught up with the characters that eating was lowest priority.

I agree with Polynesian Princess about the shoes! If I'm down there for more than one day I usually take two different pair of running shoes and alternate. I prefer running shoes over tennis shoes as they have more foot support. To each their own.

Most important thing: have a good time!!!

Not necessarily. I am a teen and still get a kick out of interacting with the characters. I really think the character dining is a great experience for people of all ages. Yeah, the children will get a kick out of it and will end up not eating.

I sure wish I could go, too!

If you're staying at Riverside I highly recommend taking the boat over to Downtown Disney. It's such a relaxing ride and the view is really pretty, whether day or night. In fact I think I prefer it better at night because the of lights to the treehouses in all the trees.

The weather forcast is for low sixties the first 3 days and then low 70's. Here's the thing: If we had low sixties in Kentucky, we would think it was a heat wave but for Florida that's kinda cool. So we're thinking about our packing and I think we'll have to pack as many long pants as shorts-(which takes up more suitcase room when you multiply that by 5 people).

We often dress VERY WARM, as we get cold easily but handle most any heat. When it is time to shed layers, we rent a locker. I believe they are $7 a day now. If you hop to another park, you can use your receipt to rent a locker there. Small price for comfort.
