These could be Mouseoholic's exact words about me!

Sorry, Mindflipper, you got it backwards in my case. The only area where I've "out-Disney'd" her is here on these boards. But even here, she signed up before I did, and she is the one that got me started here. But the fact is that she is the one who converted this sceptic into a Disney freak in the beginning.

What's funny is the only reason I joined the boards and posted was to increase my points so I could request the larger tracks. But then all of the "magic" hit me and I got hooked. It's amazing how much information gets tossed around this board. I have tried other boards, but this one just feels a lot more friendly and we have some characters here! Reading the trip reports gets me excited and I can't wait to get down there for my honeymoon so I can add a honeymoon trip report!

I have a feeling my fiance will turn into a WDW nut after our trip. She was raised on the movies, so there is a foundation there already. She has a cousin who takes her daughters to WDW or the Disney Cruise every year...so I am hoping that we could join in on that once we're married.

Don't know which was first in the MmeLeota's household.
Actually, we were both Disney nuts from the get-go....and it's only gotten worse over time :) (though I think I have the edge on him... ;) )

But we do have an ongoing argument about which is better...DL or WDW. He grew up going to WDW and I to DL. Yes, WDW is bigger and has way more stuff to do, but DL was the original and the only park Walt ever saw completed. People think I'm crazy, but there is a special magic you feel at DL that you simply cannot feel at WDW. Don't get me wrong. There's plenty of Disney magic in WDW, but it doesn't feel the same.

I grew up going to WDW, but went to DL for the first time in 2008. It was weird...because it was so similar to MK. It had a "real" feeling to it though. It was almost like everything was put into perspective. As much as I love HM at WDW...the one at DL has so much charm that it's as if it is alive and drawing you towards it. It's something you can't really understand unless you have seen it in person. The only thing that did not impress me was Tomorrowland. It was a sad shell of what it was meant to be there in DL.

Here's how I see it:
Mainstreet - DL (because of Walt's flame)
Tomorrowland - WDW
Toontown - DL
Fantasyland - DL (better theming, Mr. Toad)
Liberty Sq/New Orleans Sq - DL (better POTC and HM exterior)
Frontierland/Critter Country - WDW
Adventureland - WDW (has POTC and original SFR Treehouse)

Both parks are amazing though and I'd rather spend a week in WDW than DLR...but I'd gladly do either if anyone is willing to pay!

Bigger is not always better, MmeLeota. There's a lot that DLR offers that WDW does not. I think the compact layout of the parks and hotels is better than WDW because you don't need the buses and boats - you can just walk it. While WDW does have alot that can't be found at WDW, it doesn't mean the reverse isn't true. DLR has things that WDW does not: Temple of the Forbidden Eye, Haunted Mansion Holiday, Small World Holiday, the Halloween lay-over for Space Mountain, Submarine Voyage with Nemo (which from what I've seen is better than the Living Seas with Nemo), Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Pinnochio's Daring Journey, Grizzly River Rapids, Monsters Inc. to the Rescue, the Bug's Life Playland, and soon Captian Eo. I know I've probably left some things off that list.

It's hard to say which is "better" - just leave it at they're "different, but equally enjoyable."

I'm glad someone else feels it too. It can't be explained.

I agree about Tomorrowland...however, TL pre-1998 was way better...actually pre-1990 (Adventures thru Inner Space, Circle Vision, Mission to Mars, Peoplemover...etc)

Also, I really miss the original SFR Treehouse in Adventureland.

I also really miss the Country Bears. They definitely added to the theme of Critter Country (originally named Bear Country pre-Splash Mountain...for anyone who didn't know) :)

Critter Country is also a name of a section in DLP's MK too, which is odd as it does not have CBJ or Splash. :?

I've only known WDW. I would like to visit DL someday b/c it is the park that Walt saw completed, he walked those grounds. I would think there is a special feeling there! I want to see the light on abot the firehouse!

I live in Florida, but I have never been a "WDW Snob". I love DLR and DLP too after visiting both. I haven't been to TDL or HKDL, but I would love to visit both (I would love see Fantillusion or TDL's Electrical Parade Dreamlight). All the parks are fun - be open to trying them all!

What I didn't mention before is that after several years of going to DL (b/c WDW is too far/expensive for us to get to) DH and I see eye to eye about DL. In fact, the last time we were in WDW (2003) we both were in a friendly debate with a CM about the "magic" felt at the parks. We said the magic is spread too thin and it's not felt as much as DL and they were arguing back that b/c WDW is bigger, there's more magic.

I like mindflipper's description...they're "different but equally enjoyable". A nice, diplomatic answer...

(but DL is better  :P  )

Gotta try new things, MmeLeota - what about Disneyland Paris? Hong King Disneyland? Tokyo Disneyland? There's soooo many parks, sooooo much magic.... :D
