Disney resorts you didn't like

It's hard to choose one I didn't like. They're actually all pretty good in the grand scheme of things. Even All-Star is pretty good when you consider the price and location. But, and I know people will probably scream at me for it, I'm not a big fan of the Grand Floridian. Way overpriced, and very little atmosphere in my opinion. All the others manage to take you away from it all except that one which is just a sort of stuffy and stiff in its decor. It's pretty nice during the Christmas seasons, though.

No yelling here.. I agree with you complete. THe GF seems snooty and is overpriced.

Thanks for making me feel like I'm not the only one. Floridians love the resort, and I'd definitely in the minority. During Christmas it's a little bit better, with interesting lighting, a mammoth tree in the foyer, and a large gingerbread house that you can go inside to purchase small gingerbread houses. I guess there's a market for it since it's always booked solid, but... shudder... with all those other glorious places to choose from, why bother?!?!

I agree with the two of you: The Grand Floridian is definitely not what I would consider the best resort. Too decadent for my taste. I guess the theming just doesn't appeal to me.

I didn't much care for the Dolphin when my family stayed there a couple years ago... but the other resorts I've been too... BC, BWI, POR... I'd go back to in a heartbeat. When my girlfriend and I go this winter, we're going to stay at the Pop Century to save some cash, and I have to admit, I'm kind of dreading it. I think if we can get a deal, we may upgrade, possibly to POR/POFQ or CSR, but chances are, it's Motel-6-on-Disney-Propert for us...

Don't cancell your reservation! My family and are are usually a minimum of moderate, usually deluxe resort people, but my DH and I stayed at POP for 2 nights back in October. We loved it so much that our whole family is staying there for a couple of nights this October. Give it a try and let us know what you think.spaulo wrote:I didn't much care for the Dolphin when my family stayed there a couple years ago... but the other resorts I've been too... BC, BWI, POR... Thanks for the words of encouragement... we wouldn't be cancelling the ressie no matter what, but after staying at BoardWalk, Beach Club, and PO-Riverside my last three on-property trips, I'm just expecting to be a bit let down by PC... of course, I will report after we go (in six months!)...

hahah.......SpringheeledJack wrote:The first thing I think when I walk in the door is, "Oh, god! Don't let the kids loose!" Of course, in typical Disney foresight, everything is bolted down and perfectly child proofed, but it definitely felt breakable. Somewhat like going to grandma's house.
that about sums it up for me too...

I agree, Wilderness lodge is a great resort, but Animal Kingdom lodge in my opinion is even better! Lots of animals, great resturants and a killer atmosphere.SpringheeledJack wrote:![]()
How can you say that?!?!?!?! Animal Kingdom Lodge blows away Wilderness Lodge in atmosphere! And I've never to AKL when I didn't see several of pretty much every animal that's available.
I have only been to the All-Star Movies, Caribean Beach, and Orleans Riverside. Can't really complain about any of them. The one problem with the All-Star was were were pretty far away from the food court and transportation. The nice thing about the Orleans Riverside was you can get a room that sleeps 5 which we needed one year. The one thing we found was that if you are staying there all week go for the resort with the best pool. If you are going for only a short 2 or 3 nights go with the value, you won't really be spending much time in the room!!
