That's very interesting and I agree with him completely. I have nothing against g**, in fact, one of my best friends are one. As with any "type" of group comes in mass quantities they personify those stereotypes.

I can't imagine how it would be for a family to visit on one of those days.

Yeah this guy hit it right on the mark. I've known many g** people and have a g** uncle and have no issue with g** either. Don't make the Happiest Place on Earth your banner for g** rights. Enjoy the park like everyone else and fight the good fight in the political arena.

Best quote of the article

"I don’t care if you’re straight or g**, there are some things kids don’t need to see – and trust me, two queens frenching outside Cinderella castle is really high on that list."

Preach it my g** brother!

g**

Be open minded people. A large percentage of Disney employees happen to be g**, if Disney wants to have g** days, then let them, it's a nice way for g** folks to meet other nice g** folks and enjoy the parks. But they should also have Asian days, African American days, and Latino days if they are going to isolate one group for their own day.

I don't think it is the fact that they are having "g** days" that is upsetting. Remember, the author himself is g**. What the problem is, is the activities that are performed in public that are inappropriate for anyone in public, no matter what you sexual preference, race, religion is.

We never knew about "g** Days" till one year we went the week after "g** Days" took place. I noticed there were a few g** males in the park. I didn't realy mind, till two guys decided to use the women's restroom. As I was comeing out of the Men's Room my son called my attention to the fact that two men just went into the women's. I thought they were up to no good. Fear started to grab me when I couldn't find my little girl and wife. Ready to kill, I went towards the women's restroom. My son told me my daughter and wife were getting autographs so I listened by the entrance of the restroom for any sounds of trouble. This poor lady hurried out, looked at the sign to make sure she was in the right restroom, shook her head and walked off. When the guys came out of the the restroom, I started to get in thier face about useing the wrong room. That is when I found out they were g**, just useing the restroom. Then I had to explain to my son, and daughter why I was so upset, without going into too much detail.
The next time I was going to Walt Disney World I tried to be very tactfull when asking if the g** were planning anything that week. The cast member makeing my reservations pretended not to know what I was talking about. (At that time I had to plan for vaction when my kids were out of school.) Some one told me of the site g**.com. I had to call back to reschedule my vacation. We no longer go the last week of May or the first week of June.

That's great to hear a first hand story. At the same time, horrible. It's completely unecessary to do something like that. g** talk about wanting to be treated fairly but there's the few that go out of their way to make the g** community look bad.

This is a very touchy subject, isn't it?
Having been in the airline industry, I had many co-workers who are g**, and my best friend in the whole world was g**, God rest his soul, he passed away last year. While my bf was openly g**, he never did any PDA with his partner or other g** friends of his in public or when he had parties at his house. He and his friends are the classiest, sweetest and most loving people I have ever met. I loved him dearly and miss him tons! At my age we were not raised to accept homosexuality, it was not a thing to talk about or become a part of. I think education helps everyone. But as my bf used to say "you will always have the flamboyant flamers that ruin it for the rest of us. You can be g** without becoming obnoxious about it. Some people just don't have the class to act civilized no matter their lifestyle preference." Those are his words and observations, and I agree.
I lived in Palm Springs, California, a huge openly g** city. Traditional families that come there for vacation would be upset to see how open the city is, especially during the "white party" and would tell me when they flew out they would never come back because of it. I am sure that was a small majority because Palm Springs is a very popular destination. But, how do we all co-exist and accept one another in our choice of lifestyles??? Personally if they are going to have g** Days at the Parks, then let it be at night and closed to the general public, like they used to do for Bank of America night, when it was open just for the bank employees, their friends and families. I always loved BofA night, the park was our for the taking, it was a blast. Oh great the boss just walked in and asked for his accounts receivables report, guess I best get to it..................

Werner made a really good point about how its not just the fact that they it's g** PDA, but extensive PDA by anyone in general is not necessary and is distasteful in a place that is meant for family enjoyment. Disney is a place that is outside of reality ( I like to call it my sanctuary). People just take the 5th amendment too far. WE are already bombarded with sexually explicit content everyday of our normal lives whether in TV shows, movies, magazines, internet pop ups and spam, even commercails for TIRES are about sex. Disney is one of the few places in the world that is usually free from that. That is one of the reasons I love it so much.

If each group wants to have their own day, then each group needs to decide to do just that. g** Days is not a Disney sponsored event so it's not "Disney wanting to have g** Days"...it's just a group of people who decided to visit WDW at a certain time...no different than if you decided with your friends to go to WDW a certain time each year.

Anyway, no one is being closed minded and saying they shouldn't have g** Days....the article is pointing out that those who parrticipate in GD should be more respectful when it comes to their behavior. g** or straight, there is appropriate and inappropriate behavior and people need to rid themselves of the inappropriate behavior when they come to WDW.

We just got back from being in the parks during g** days, and it really wasn't a big deal. You hardly would've noticed it if not for all the red shirts (and the occasional g** pride/joke shirt like "If you want a piece of me, ask him" and the other shirt just said "No, you can't."). I actually found it interesting that there seemed to be nearly as many people sporting religious shirts in what appeared to be a semi-silent protest of the event.

Were you in the "designated" parks on the "designated" days? The Magic Kingdom seems to get the brunt of it (where as the other 3 parks are a lot more tame). We've been there during GD the last two years (we were actually there so I could march in the SWW parade) and I've definitely seen the things that Pete mentions in the article. We've decided to stop going that time, partly because of the behavior we've seen (I could care less if they wer g**...I DO care that inappropriate behavior was going on in front of children) and partly because of the insane crowds due to not only being a busy season, but having two large groups there (GD & SWW). I like to have breathing space. :D

Actually, we tried to avoid those parks soley based on what we figured would be their busiest days, but weather forced us to change our plans and we ended up in Magic Kingdom right on that designated day. We didn't stay all day (it didn't stop raining all day), and it was packed, but we didn't see anything other than the occasional hand holding and some flamboyance. :)

Far worse was the Star Wars weekend at MGM. -Shudder- I'll take g** days over geek days, anyday. :D

Thanks for the info about SWW at MGM. We will skip the studios during our visit this weekend. The Star Wars dress up geek party is a bit to weird for us too. Welcome to the forum SpringheeledJack.

Thanks! My wife was particularly disappointed after waiting for an hour in line to do "Who Want To Be A Millionaire", only to find out it was the special "Star Wars Edition". As it stands, she still calls Ewoks "teddy bears", and thinks Chewbacca is a that gum that used to come in a pouch when we were kids. :)

Have fun when you visit!
