Demeter does the same thing, this is the more decent picture I could post. I have a picture on my desk at work of her laying on her back all exposed. My boss chides me on my "kittie" porn.

As for the name, no it is not a reference to Cats (I have never seen it). She is named after the Greek god Demeter.

Ginger is technically an apricot poodle. Ginger's personality is best described as neurotic. I have a friend who has a chocolate standard poodle, now that is a beautiful dog.

agingerbugg, all the poodles I have ever seen are black and white, with only one gray poodle ever. Before I moved, the neighbors had a gray poodle named Muffin and that dog was the sweetest animal that ever lived. She was as much as our dog as theirs because she lived around our house as much as theirs. When the dog got pnuemonia and died, we all greived terribly. She is the standard I hold all other animals against - cats or dogs - for being the most loving wonderful pet.

That was my other thought...as far as CATS goes, I love it! I wanted to have a cat named Jennyanydots or Skimbleshanks just because they're fun to say...but I let the cats name themselves so Thelma, Louise and Ella it is... :)

Mind, what a beautiful story so far...I'm intrigued by the cat soap opera!

(it is believed that Thelma & Louise were born feral since they were not (and still aren't) acclaimated to people. It took several weeks to get them to trust us enough to pet them (I didn't know about the wet finger trick yet). Ella was the wild child. She was nearly 6 months old when we rescued her...almost too old to save. It took months to calm her down..much like Tiger. She was the alpha of her litter, therefore much more agressive.)

Oh mindflipper, there are many different poodle colors. Check out this site. They list the rainbow of colors and have some pictures too.

Funny tidbit...

This afternoon Ella was delighting herself with a game of chase the tail. It seems whenever she is bored, this is how she entertains herself. She will constantly flick her tail up over her head and tap herself, then jump up to catch it. It looks like something out of a cartoon! It is the funniest thing, but once she realizes she's being watched, she won't play anymore.

I have attempted to catch her on video, but her senses are too good...she knows the camera and stops immediately. Oh well...just thought I'd share :)

My cat has on occassion stood upright like a bipedal human being. It's something to see, but never to record or photograph. I never have a camera for it! And if I go and get one - forget it - by the time I get back she's back down on all fours. :?

I think it's their version of "stupid pet tricks"....I can hear it now....

Cat: Go fetch the camera while I'm being cute...fetch!

Human: Awww, I've got to go get this on film! (5 seconds later, with camera) Dang! I missed it!

Cat: Good Human...now go get a treat

Crazy cats!

Oddly enough, my cat does not beg for treats. If you offer them, she will pass on them. She wants her snacks on the top of her food in her bowl. :?: :? :?:

Ella is my only beggar...she used to eat anything in front of her, but now that she is older she is much more picky (but still begs to no end).

Since she literally lived on dumpster food, she had the taste for human food from the get go. We used to give her small bits of meat or a few veggies as a treat since that was her preference. But these days, we don't really give her anything since all she does is sniff it, take a lick and walk away (this process is repeated several times over the next 20 minutes).

Thelma and Louise never cared for people food...

Friends of mine have a soft, long-haired brown-black mix cat they call Tater. Tater is a begger like a dog. If you're eating food sitting on the sofa, this cat will crawl all over to get to that food, and won't get of your way until you give in.

Ella attempts to demand, but she is impatient. If I ignore her she gives up.

9 times out of 10 I will give her a piece of whatever I have and she'll refuse it anyway. Then continue to hound me for more. She usually sits on the arm of the couch when I eat in the living room. She will be so bold as to try and put her nose in my plate, but jump back if I move at all.

What is funny though, it doesn't matter what I'm doing in the kitchen, if I'm there so is she.

Do any of your cats have an "odd toy"?

Mine like cable ties, anything with a string, my knee highs (not to mention Louise's shoe fetish), little furry mice (yeah, an actual cat toy for a change...Ella skins them), pretty much anything they can bat around, and of course invisible (and real) bugs (what cat doesn't?).

Louise has a habit of carrying a "large" item around the house. We had this small foam football that we saw "walking" down the hall one day. She managed to sink her teeth into it and carry it though it was bigger than her head. She has also managed to carry a roll of toilet paper around.

All of them have a habit of putting their toys in the food...as if they are little girls carrying around their dollies and making them eat. It's hilarious! We find mice it the food on a daily basis!

My cats hunt beanie babies. You will find them all over the place.
