Burning question

I love all the music in the different areas at Animal Kingdom, like the character grove, etc. How did you go about getting the music and the names of the music being played in those different areas. I have the AK CD, but none of that music is on there. And this isn't just for AK, but the music throughout the Parks.

Music comes from all over the net; no one central place.

^ What he said, just need to search for the songs and stuff, it is hard but I found some over Kazaa, and other sites that let you download some of the music.

as it has been said in many other threads, much of the music you hear has been available at one time or another. Disney used to operate CD kiosks where you could make your own CDs of just about any park music. These kiosks were very expensive to maintain, and weren't as popular as it was thought they would be. People who did utilize these have since uploaded the songs to various services like Kazaa or irc. Then, people find them, and upload them here.

Also, some can be found on the pre-recorded CDs like what you've bought, although you'll only get the most popular tracks, no the lesser known things...

Just wondering how music got matched it its name and then its location in WDW. I find it fascinating that someone would know the names of the music played say in the Character Grove area of the Animal Kingdom.

that's where the music kiosks came into play. You would choose which tracks you wanted (they'd all be labelled with name/area) and then you'd burn the cd.

Another reason some of the music disappeared from those kiosks is that they did not have the rights to all of the music on there.

For example, the "club 33" tracks were bought by Disney to play in club 33. Disney does not own the rights to the music and was not legally allowed to distribute it. Not good that they made a huge mistake like that.

and they were darn expensive to begin with. back in the day, cds were much harder to burn, took alot longer, and as such, cost top-dollar. not enough people wanted to pay for them, so they were losing money.

And I'm sure the fact that thay were distributing musoc that did not belong to them didn't help them stay open either...

Just a side note, they still have the kiosks. They have just been changed so you can select from a grouping of pre-arranged albums. They still burn the CDs there for you, but you cannot pick which songs, just which album.

Really - where are they at? Over in Epcot they were all boarded up and I didn't even look for them in DL... I can't see why they don't have them pre-done already but then again I'm an engineer not a business manager

In Disneyland, they have three of them in 20th Century Music. They also let you listen to any song off of the pre-recorded albums in the store. It has a barcode scanner and you scan the barcode on any album in the store. The CDs and the album covers print behind the counter and a CM assembles the case for you.

I did see those, didn't realize the printed them at the counter though, we couldn't find them in the stores and thought it was some sort of mail/special order thing [not like we looked too hard, it was crowded in there].

If I am not mistaken, back in the day they had then in the Penny arcade and in the Disney Gallery as well. It's a shame when they put out technology a little before its time and then pull the plug when it doesn't make money. With the cost of burning CDs today, I think it could be very lucrative. Plus, it would help out those of us who are really into music.

Yeah - it is easy to do today and the equipment would be a lot smaller than what it was, not to mention cheaper to buy and maintain. And it would be nice for all of us into the music [at least if the price was right - that was not cheap...]

I would imagine sales would be pretty good too considering how little is actually on their other cds when compared to what they play. And I imagine the copywrite issues could be worked out if the other parties got a cut of the action.

Oh well, I doubt we'll see that back anytime soon

I think Disney was oblivious to the fact that so many people enjoy this kind of stuff. That might change with the exceptional sales of the 6 CD set that was just released. I keep waiting for them hire me to do this full time for an exorbitant amound ot money.

We each have our own dreams.
