My mom's sad that the Dodgers didn't get to make it to the World Series. She was wanting to see a Dodgers vs. Angels World Series.

Wow, I'm so surprised there are so many who dislike the Yankees on this forum - how do they have any fans when there's so much dislike in this small community on the net? Personally, I was always was a big Braves fan although they're not as good as they used to be in the past. At no time was I a Yankees fan. I would have to root for the Phillies - oh well, so much for loyalty...

It would have been nice to see.

The Yankees have a huge following and they don't appreciate it. We (family and I) were in Toronto when they were playing the Jays. The crowd there had to be a 50/50 split at both games and it really didn't feel like an away game for the Yankees. I also found out from the Yankee fans sitting around us that they have a huge fan base in Buffalo. They have fans, it's just that everybody else hates them.

That's not really a big fan base. I mean, I was big into the Braves and I don't live in Georgia. Needless to say, I won't be rooting for Georgia this weekend when they're in town - I'm a Floridian, and you gotta have some loyalty to the state when the bulldogs are in town.
So no one is gonna be screaming "Go Yankees!" during the World Series then, eh?

I don't think I'll be watching too much of this Series at all. I do not like either of these teams (I'm a Marlins fan).
Though at least I can claim my team did beat the Yankees in the World Series (2003, even winning the Series clinching game in their ballpark).

I am also a very big Braves fan, but that comes from living in Atalanta during the madness of the 90's (90-00). If you lived there in 91 you became a Braves fan. It was like you got infected! I do remember going to a Braves game in June of 90. We got there about the 4th inning and they let us in for free.
I know from talking to different people here in Chattanooga that you have a lot of Yankee and Brave fans because in the day they were the only ones you could see or hear. The Yankees have always been on radio and the Braves were always on TV. Yea it was the same way when I lived in Florida. I was pretty surprised when I moved from NYC when I was younger, about how many Yankee fans were in the south. I grew up believing that southerners hated New York!! In the 70's you could even get Rangers hockey on cable in Ft Myers Florida. I got to see more Ranger games there then in Brooklyn.

Len90 wrote:Well, now it's all down to the Yankees and Phillies. The worst possible outcome for a Mets fan! It was a great ALCS. The games were always close which definitely kept you drawn to the screen. So on to my World Series prediction: Yankees in 6.
Now look at that prediction made on October 25. Flash forward and congratulations to the NY Yankees on winning number 27. At least for me, loyal Mets fan, I don't have to endure another Phillies WS.

I'm never going to hear the end of the Yankees on my Facebook.

Good thing I'm not much of a baseball fan.

Well, as much as it pains me to say it, the best team won.

At least the pain has come and passed for this year.
There's always hope for a better next year.

Still better than seeing the Phillies win for me. I would hate to see the division rival win two in a row.
I did watch some of the parade today and all I can say is OMG! Around a million people crowded around and the confetti was at least ankle deep. Also, a lot of Rutgers students mysteriously disappeared today. I wonder where they all went.
