I was actually upset with the whole Tomorrowland transformation. I liked it when it looked as they thought the world might look in the future and the attractions fit the theme. Now, it looks rather cartoonish to me. I'm glad the TTA is still there though. I'm nervous about Space Mtn. and Fantasyland though.

Even though TTA was one of my favorite things at WDW...I find myself strangely agreeing with you on this change. It has a retro Peoplemover feel to it. I don't think they are done with it either. They will most likely add more to it which will make it a complete experience like the Peoplemover used to be.agingerbugg wrote:I can't say that I hate it. Like Future Guy said, it is more like the WEDway Peoplemover that I remember growing up with. I was actually kinda upset when they changed it to the TTA in '94. As a kid I always dreamed of the day I would live in a city that had a mass transit system of Peoplemovers and monorails. To me, this is more along the lines of Walt's dream for the Peoplemover than the "ride" it became as the TTA.
I am also really excited that they put Peoplemover back into it. Now, we just need to rechristen it the WEDway Peoplemover again, because that is truly what it is.
Will I miss the former TTA? Of course...and thank goodness we have it here at SSR and on YouTube. But...I am looking forward to seeing them complete SM and TTA.

Blah, It just ruins the neat story TTA had. I mean TTA is still the TTA, but I still enjoyed the atmosphere of the ride, and part of that was the story the ride told with the audio.
I'm just suprised they didn't add touchscreens in each car.

I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

A little "what if..." scenario to distract the passengers from the construction walls in SM?packwingfn wrote: I'm just suprised they didn't add touchscreens in each car.
That will come with the next refurb, when they remove progress city and all the vignettes along the route because they are too time consuming to maintain. The tunnels will just be dark and you will have little screens in the cars to distract you so you don't notice that something is incomplete.
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I hope they don't ever do this! I love progress city, lets hope the only thing they've ruined is the audio! I'm sure in time it will grow on me, but I will miss the previous audio. I will still ride TTA and love it though!agingerbugg wrote:A little "what if..." scenario to distract the passengers from the construction walls in SM?packwingfn wrote: I'm just suprised they didn't add touchscreens in each car.

I really do think this is somewhat temporary. They will add more audio in time. The overall theme will remain...but I think they will add to it. I wouldn't be surprised if they used or made a reference to the old audio. Let's hope we get some creative imagineers working on this.

To be an Imagineer, would they have had to actually go to the parks before destroying a venue?

I second (er, third, I guess) this. The Peoplemover's always been my favorite and I felt more than a little territorial about them changing the voice over, but I like what they've come up with. I'm not a huge fan of the way it's basically turned into an advertisement for the other attractions - more blatant advertisement anyway - but to be fair, it's really turned back into that, since that's what it used to be. They've just peeled off the Buck Rogerish overlay, which they've been slowly doing to the whole land for years so it's not a big surprise to me.theBIGyowski wrote:Even though TTA was one of my favorite things at WDW...I find myself strangely agreeing with you on this change. What I do really appreciate is them whipping out the word "peoplemover" over and over. Thumbs up on that one. And I'm happy the music is the same. All in all, I likes.

Here's a link to a new story about the update. It's almost ready for liftoff, it says!

Seems they have done very little with the refub of SM. The cars are the same, so it seems besides a new paint scheme on the outside we have to hope for some cool new effects. They are supposedly soft launching this week.
