Forced to sell DVC! Support PLEASE!!

Post by Sharonofwindham » Sep Sun 20, 2009 12:09 am

Due to financial problems, I've had to place my DVC ownership on the market. I'm devastated to say the least  . Please tell me I will survive, 'cause at the moment it doesn't seem like it  . Joined in '99, and my last payment is in 2 weeks, aaaaaaaahhhhhh! I know, it's not like WDW is going to fall off the face of the earth, but DVC has made visiting WDW affordable for me. I feel guilty and selfish for being so sad about such a thing, at least I have it to help me out. In these times there are so many people hurting financially :(. Disney just means so much to me, and even though I haven't been able to go for a few years, I always new DVC would be there in the future. I need some Disney love :mickey:

Wow that is tough and it does suck. My family never joined up with the DVC due to the fact that we just have very tight time frames in which we can go away. All I can say is that it will get better. Once one door closes another one opens. Just remember, we are all here for you in order to help relive the magic!

Take care, even w/o DVC, you'll still be able to visit Disney in the future!!! It may not be in DVC style, but you can always look for deals & stay in value resorts to keep things more affordable.

It seems like you really love Disney....I would even start planning a future trip to WDW - like maybe for 2 years in advance, once you're back on your feet - so you have something to look forward to & something that can act as a motivator.

Hang in there buddy! Disney will be there when you can visit again someday!

Thank you for your positive thoughts. Thats exactly what I am going to do if and when it sells, book a trip way in advance, and start planning :hatter_bounce: . Thats what I used to do before DVC. Have a great all girls trip! My last trip in 2004 was a girls trip wih my late sister and her daughter. I hope enjoy every minute, I'm exited for you :figment: .

God bless indeed, it's going to be better, truly it is.

During a serious medical situation 20 years ago, when everything else was falling apart, someone said to me, "I wish I could give you the ability to see 2 years into the future, you are going to be ok." I had my doubts, but that lady was right.

Hang on, hang in there, something so much better is going to come your way.

Suggestion, keep a little diary, write about what you want to happen, imagine and know that it will be so...you wrote your first message so well, you have a compelling style...make your little wish diary, one wish at a time.

I am adding my wish to it now, I wish you peace of mind, and heart, and spirit.

Thank you so much for all your positive thoughts, and I'm so happy that everything turned out well for you. My issue at the moment pales in comparison i'm sure. Really quite silly when I think about it . Disney magic is in all our memories with loved ones, and right here on this amazing website, not just in future trips. A big cyber hug goes out to you for your thoughtful support. Thanks again

My heart goes out to you :( I can't imagine paying all those years and having to sell. But as everyone here says, when one door closes another one opens and it usually is even better in the end!

I wish I could financially help you with hanging on to it. I've been wanting to buy into DVC for 2 years now but it's always coming up with the down payment that kills me, not the monthly payment or dues as I have a secure job (knock on wood!)

My little suggestion and I know this doesn't help right now is that you can always rent points from a DVC owner for a future trip if you want to stay at your home resort. Or get a PIN code from someone which will save $$. (I find that renting DVC points for our fav BWV resort is definitely less than staying at a moderate.)

I wish you all the best and for some strange reason, everything happens for a reason!

It's the silly things in life that keep us young...when we lose the silliness, we get old...
I'm so sorry to hear about your situation! Ugh!!!! It's so frustrating!!! My DH and I were forced to give up our APs to Disneyland 2 years ago...though it's a smaller comparison, I understand your pain...

Take care, God bless and I hope your situation gets better! :)

(In the meantime, listening to the park tracks helps!!!!!)

When I bought into DVC in '99, they gave me the option of selling back my first 150 pts. for $1500. as a down payment. It's worth looking into. DVC is amazing! Just an example of what it has done for my family, in 2003 six of my family members and myself stayed in a 2-bedroom villa at the Boardwalk for 8-nights, the cost would have been over $700. a night. We NEVER would have been able to pay that price! We have had so many Disney fans in my family, aside from myself, my Dad and my sister, who have both passed away, buying into the vacation club was a way I could give back something special to my family. Thanks so much for all your kind words, they have helped alot.

Thank you for your positive thoughts, listening sure does help. Giving up your APs may seem like a smaller issue, however, whatever keeps the Disney magic going, no matter how big or small, is tough to give up. In today's world, we need all the magic we can get!

Hang in there Sharonofwindham, it will get better! Your Subsonic family is here to support you. And like others have said, Disney will still be there and you will be able to return one day. Pixie dust headed your way!!! :D
