New Dining at Diamond Horseshoe Review

Post by missynole » Aug Wed 12, 2009 6:14 am

I just saw that Disney is opening up the Diamond Horseshoe Review to sit down style for about 6 weeks starting on August 16th. It's been ages since I've been to this location. Has anyone eaten here before? It appears to be the same food as Liberty Tree Tavern. Should I make a reservation?

I was just there in April. At that time, it was family style dining. The food isn't that great, it is sponsored by Stouffers and that is what the food tasted like. Good, but not worth the money.

Thanks so much for your input. I think we'll most likely pass on this restaurant and have Pecos Bill burgers instead!

So wait, they are reopening it as a sit down restaurant with ok food? Is there ANYTHING special about this place? I mean, they are not bringing back any of the original Diamond Horseshoe show or any characters?

I don't think so. I think it's just a limited time place where you can go and eat lunch or dinner.

I just wanted to say that the food at the Diamond Horseshoe is the same as the food at the Liberty Tree Tavern. It's just overflow seating for dinner for Liberty Tree. During the day you can get sandwiches. It's kind of cool to eat in there for lunch, it's a neat environment.

But agree that it would be MUCH cooler if there was a show!

My son and I got lunch there back in July. I had a barbecue turkey sandwich. It was plenty of food and was pretty good. We were behind a Korean family that had a little trouble with English so it took a little extra time waiting in line. Otherwise, it was a good experience. The restaurant seems a little small. But it was a quick meal.

They don't have a show at Diamond Horseshoe?

It's been a long time since I've been there and I'm not in the loop on some stuff. In CA, they have a group called Billy and the Hillbillies performing in the Golden Horseshoe (the original show hasn't been there since the 80's). They are great! The food ok but you get a show while you're eating (if you go at showtimes of course). We haven't been to the park in a couple of years, so I'm not sure if they've changed out the food items or not.

The one at MK has what looks like a player piano still on a stage and music plays through the pa system in the restaurant. Other than that, there's not much "entertainment" or at least there wasn't when we were there for lunch last month.

There was a show until 2004, but there hasn't been anything there since.

That's a shame. I think it would be awesome to have some kind of show in there while people eat.

It's too bad that nice big stage isn't being used.

They used to...back in the day. It was a really fun, high-energy, Wild West stage show with can-can dancers and everything!

I remember when we went for our honeymoon in 1998, we saw the show, but that was the last time we were in Diamond Horseshoe. Thanks for the info, I had no idea the show wasn't there anymore.

Here's a picture from the show I stole off Walt Dated World.

I have but it wasn't sit down. It was just cafeteria style deli sandwhiches and chips etc... A restaurant sounds neat.
