Mickey's Not at all Scarey Halloween Party
We did this several years ago and didn't have much fun at all.
It was poorly organized, they kept stuffing us into buildings with attics.
Then when it was time to Trick or Treat they gave us these less than wonderful, I promise you, Witches Teeth.
Did I mention we were a group of adults who had been friends since childhood, so we could speak freely to each other without fear of hurting feelings? One husband was so annoyed that he didn't get ANY chocolate, not one tiny piece, that he went into the candy store on the corner of Main Street and bought $10 worth of candy bars (which he shared with all of us.) Then at the parade Peter Pan went thru the crowd with a bucket asking for candy, and getting it.
I gave him my apple.
He was not delighted.
Well, neither was I and I had paid to get in.
Anyway, we are wondering if we should try it again. It has been about 7 years and surely it has improved...HASN'T IT? or is it still totally tot oriented? (and those poor little children sweltering in those hot costumes)
We love the Christmas party!

WOW, that's really disheartening! I've been to MNSSHP in Oct. '01 and again in Oct. '07. I truly loved it both times!!! I love the parade and how the headless horseman comes down Main St. and how the entire park is all decked out for the holiday! The fireworks are awesome and surroud you. When we went in '07 DH and I ended up with more candy than we knew what to do with! Good stuff too, not just the cheapy candy. The characters are all dressed up too and around the park. HM is a must do during this time!
I hope you will go again and enjoy your experience alot more!!! I wouldn't give you a bump steer.
We love Mickey's Christmas party too! But, the Halloween party gets two thumbs up from me as well.

Halloween party is awesome. It is now hands down our favorite extra thing to do. I am trying to remember if we got chocolate though.... maybe we didn't. We did get loads of candy and its worth it alone for the hallo-wishes fireworks on the castle.
We are less than impressed with the Christmas party, you keep spending more and getting less so we have dropped it in recent years.

They had some decent candy when we went last October. There was still a fair amount of "I don't know what this is/have no desire to break my teeth" stuff mixed in, but there were mini chocolate bars and such as well. We also got heaps of it. Without even hitting every candy station, I'm pretty sure my husband and I walked out with 10 pounds of the stuff.
Apart from that, we had a great time at the party. But then Halloween is my favorite holiday so I may have been more predisposed to liking the decor and the parade. The fireworks in particular were excellent. I look forward to going again someday.

That sounds like an awful time you had at that party and I can see why you would be reluctant to go again.
IMO, it is a wonderful experience.
The parade is so unbelievable- I think about it often.
You should try it at least once more.
We went last year and got so much candy that the kids ate it until I finally took it away from them in February- there is still tons left in my closet.
Also- the good thing I think, about the party-- is that they limit the # of tix sold, so even at capacity, you never feel squished.
Hope you decide to go again.
I was hesitate to go at first, but so glad we did.

Wow, what do you mwan when you said you were stuffed into attics? I don't get that. I knwo I have been there a few parties, and worked a few. Last year my wife and I got over 10 lbs of candy and plenty of chocolate. Mostly Hershey bars, and some small butterfinger and snickers. I was told when I worked there that they don't give as much chocolate cause it's still hot and they melt...fyi.
"hold on to them hats and glasses, cause this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!!"

It sounds like things have improved a lot since we did the party.
Someone asked about being stuffed in an attic.
Jafar was there...but I don't recall the building...they just kep moving us...then they took free pictures, near Small World, which was a nice way to commerate the evening...I really want to try again, and we will be there on a party date, so I am inching ever so much closer to the phone to order tix.
By the way, has anyone ever actually seen the Headless Horseman ride past?
I turned my head for a second and woosh, no horse, no horseman!
Halloween is the best fun...I'm calling! Thank you all!

When my wife and 3.5 year old son went last year, we watched the early parade from Frontierland, close to where it transitions to Liberty Square. The horseman did zoom by very quickly, but otherwise it was a great spot to see the rest of the parade.
Later, when it was time for the second parade, our son was asleep in his stroller, so we staked out one of the little outdoor tables at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square. The horseman rode past us, onto the wooden bridge toward the hub and paused before starting up again. It was a great view of him and also a pretty decent spot to watch the parade from. Plus, funnel cakes and waffles... I'm just sayin'.

I have seen the Headless Horseman and he's amazing! The first time we went in '01, he galloped down Main St. When we went again in '07 he trotted which was much easier to see. I'm wondering if they had him slow down for safety reasons?! I huge draft horse like that could easily take out a child or an adult for that matter!!!

When we saw the Horseman last year, he was cantering. It's possible he goes faster or slower depending on the weather. I know they don't ride at all if it's even the least bit wet out. From what I understand, the rider isn't really in control either - which is why the cast members are so ferocious in getting everyone completely off the street. So it's possible some days the horse just doesn't feel like going as fast, I guess.
The Horseman's ride is one of the best things I've ever seen at WDW. I'd recommend MNSSHP to people just to see that parade (and I loathe parades).

I actually have a picture of him. He rode by so quickly the picture is blurred but you can tell what it is.
My sister and I went last year without our families. We had the best time. We made a couple of costumes to look like Merryweather and Flora from Sleeping Beauty. People kept asking if they could take our picture or if their kids could get a picture with us. A cast member in one of the shops even asked for our autograph! On the Alice in Wonderland Treat path they filled our treat bags to the absolute top!! We felt like little kids and had an absolute blast!
The parade was fantastic and the fireworks were even better! I ended up buying the soundtrack to the Halloween Party so I can listen to Halloween lo ween anytime I want. The Villian Mix and Mingle was pretty good too. It was definitely worth the money. I love the upgrades that were put into Haunted Mansion a year or so ago. If you have the chance you should definitely try it again. I never experienced the attic thing that was described. I'm sure it's much better now.

We went last October on a very rainy night, so the Headless Horseman didn't ride in the first parade, but he did for the second. It was awesome to watch! We were in Frontierland across from the Country Bear Jamboree and the lights weren't completely dimmed however, I don't know if it was because of the wet pavement or if that's normal for that location. I would recommend staking out a less lit area for more of the Halloween effect.
