Help Wanted, Food/Meal ideas
If we don't want to do the big dining rooms in Epcot but we don't want to leave the park, and we are on World Showcase side, where do you suggest we eat...
I know Mexico has a place outside, and France has a bakery, and Morocco has an outside location and I did have a Kringle in Norway years ago
...or do they all have "quick service" and if they do, opinions please about what is good and what is really good. Thanks in advance.

You can get excellent Mexican food at the quick service, our favorite is the combo platter! We actually perfer the quick service over the indoor restaurant there.
In France they bakery now serves small food items as well as pastries! I had their flat bread pizza on our last trip, it was out of this world! They warm it up for you!
And the fish and chips are fantastic in England. Those are a few of our favorites!!! There so much good stuff to eat in the World Showcase!

I'd second the cantina at Mexico, the combo plate is actually a fairly decent deal. I've had it twice now and split it w/ a g/f both times and we were both satisfied. I think it was around 9.99 as of November 2009? Although it may have been $12 I suppose. Either way $5-6 each for a fairly decent size serving with a little taste of everything ain't bad. It's not even close to being the best Mexican food I've ever had but it's tasty and hits the spot. Now splitting it may be small for some, especially as your main meal for the day, but I'd consider it.
Likewise, I've heard good things about Yakitori House in Japan which I believe is quick/counter service? And the fish and chips booth at the U.K. is very very good.
Also, I don't know what your plans are/how long you're there/when you'll be there/what your budget is, but if you're planning on eating at any of the sit-down full-service restaurants at any of the parks I definitely would make it EPCOT.
The Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, in my humble opinion, leave a lot to be desired with respect to sitdowns. At Disney Studios people swear by 50's Prime Time Cafe and the Sci-Fi Drive In Diner, but you really pay a premium on the enterntainment side of those establishments and I can say that 50's Prime Time did not impress me with either the quantity or quality of the food. I haven't eaten at Sci-Fi in probably close to a decade, but I recall it being run-of-the-mill diner type food at a higher than average cost (i.e. chicken fingers and fries in a basket and costing $10<) and while cool, the sci-fi loop gets repetitive, makes it hard for conversation (as does the seating), and is just a bunch of trailers. I suppose if you've seen the movies it's a bit nostalgic, but if you haven't it's just kind of a tease. I'd much rather them play more of each movie personally

In the world showcase we love Tangerine cafe, lots of food and in the hot florida sun it doesnt leave you with that aching full cannot move feeling!
Also the cantina in mexico was good.
We usually snack our way thru a day or two. We get pastries in Norway (school bread is my choice) then the cheese plate and a dessert in France, wash it down with Rosa Regale in Italy. If its hot grab a grand mariner slush in France on the way around after eating the cheese plate. Maybe a funnel cake in America...

When we are not eating a "big" dinner meal at one of the EPCOT restaurants we do a family "you must eat and drink in every country game"! It's fun, we start in Mexico and have a taco and a margarita, then on to all the other countries to have a snack when there. We don't eat a full meal or drink at each country but a little taste is really fun!
PS Don't miss the Cheese and french bread combo in France!
Have fun!!!

These are some of the best suggestions, thank you all. I'll visit the blog, and I think we might adopt and adapt the eating around the world idea..what fun. Wondered, is the French bread and cheese combo in the bakery or do I need to have a res in one of the dining rooms..and flat breat pizza in France too. I have a lot to explore. Thank you all again.
We "eat around the world" too. We have a family of 4 so we get one thing usually in each country and split it four ways. Fish and Chips in UK, Pretzel in Germany, Coucous in Morocco, you get the idea. We all get a bite or two but we are plenty full when we are finished.
My favorite WS counter service place is Tangerine Cafe in Morocco. But there are several other choices that are close runner ups.

We are thinking of trying the Fish and Chips this next trip so I'm glad to hear that it's good.coasterfiend wrote:Our favorites are the fish and chips in UK, the eggrolls in China, the brats in Germany and of course gelatto in Italy. Hmm, it's no wonder we gain weight on Epcot days. I think we may have to look for a bit of lighter fare on our next trip.
