Alien Encounter show change

I haven't been on Stitch, but I told people all the time about AE. It sucks how those people, who were quite excited, will never go on it.

wow... it's fun to look back at everyone's thoughts about this even before they made the change... Although I think the chnage made everyone appreciate both attractions even less, not just stitch. At least AE pulled everything off in a way that made the ride technology look amazing. Stitch is such a poor attraction it shows the technology for what it really is: a surround sound system. It's like the equvilent to riding Haunted Mansion with the lights on.
I never really got to fully experience it as I was very young on my first (and only ride). I cried the entire time. I was hoping someday I would get to experience it without the "may be too intense for young children" factor; sadly, I guess not.

It is funny how people had this disappointment that AE was changing. And now that it has been changed for some time... people's fears seem realized.
Whether you thought it was for kids or not one thing stands true about AE. It fit into Tomorrowland a lot better than most of the stuff they have now. I mean, the whole show was about how these Aliens wanted to go into business selling this transportation device to the Earth. What an idea... and what a look into the future. Aliens, transportation, business of the future... other planets!

I liked Alien Encounter. I can see why they changed it because it scared children and lacked Walt's touch but still my family throughly enjoyed it and prefer it over Lilo and Stitch. Granted it's a cute ride and we will ride it but we liked Alien Encounter better. I bought a scruffy stuffed animal a few years ago because I thought he was so cute and I miss him lol.

Last time I posted in this, I hadn't been on Stitch. Well, now I have. And, I don't ever need to go on it again. What a disappointment. I think AE was scary but it fit Tomorrowland much better. It felt very futuristic. Stitch doesn't. Cartoons really never will to me. It's sad the first 3 attractions you now see in Tomorrowland are cartoon based. I think is AE was toned down a little bit and wasn't really made to be scary it could have succeeded quiet well.

Alien Encounter, despite the positive reviews in this forum, was not that popular amongst the guests in the Magic Kingdom from the moment it opened to the moment it closed. Changing it to Stitch was a good idea (considering his popularity), however doesn't match the Tomorrowland theme nor is it any good.

wow an old thread. couple thoughts: 1) AE pulled the theme off better than stitch 2) stitch is more family friendly- AE was much scarier 3) both suck 4) AE is a result from Eisner's power tripping days 5) stitch is a result of people complaining AE was not MK material and a quick and ineffective redo with the same technology.

This is my major beef with Stitch. Even though I enjoyed AE and wish it were still there, I understand its removal from the MK. I was very disappointed that all they did was basically recreate the same attraction with a more "family-friendly" stitch, rather than put in something completely new. Lame. Lame. They should change it to IRS Encounter...that would be terrifying! they could even have tax forms at the end of the show in the gift shop! perhaps some Disney Cast Member showing you how to write off your Disney Vacation as a Business Trip!

One other thing I forgot to state... or complain about .... is I can't stand the new version of S.I.R at the intro. I loved the way S.I.R. was kind of cocky and mean but yet had that awesome deep voice. The new S.I.R. while I know is more child friendly with his goofiness and voice by Robert something or other (who is that actor again?) to me the new S.I.R is just annoying and not funny at all.
The only good thing is you know exactly what you're getting into as soon as the robot starts chatting. And already your eyes are rolling. At least they kept Skippy.

Holy crap, this is an old thread! Let me just take this opportunity to say that I actually miss Alien Encounter and Stitch just blows really. The whole building will probably end up as a character greet one day...
