Upcoming ticket price increases

Post by annafab » Jul Sat 25, 2009 1:58 pm

In case you didn't know, everybody's guessing that the ticket prices for WDW (and DL too? I can't remember) are going to go up on the first Sunday of August. (This has been historically true.)

Does anyone have a valid estimation on how much the prices are going to go up?

I would hope that with the country in its current economic state, Disney would realize the importance of not appearing too greedy.

Agreed, though they historically don't do a good job of realizing that, either.

Just as a guess, I suspect they'll increase them a small percentage to 'maintain price integrity'. Have Universal or SeaWorld put theirs up yet? Sometimes you can judge by that.

Tickets are already pretty high. Lowering them might draw more people in. I know my family would go more if they were less.

Unfortunately, I think it will happen - just my gut feeling. Hopefully it will be only a small percentage though.

Yeah, they'll probably raise them. I hope it's not much though.

Yeah, I slight decrease would be nice as opposed to an increase, but like spodie said, I doubt that will happen. Let's just hope it's a small increase.

I don't know about Seaworld, but I know Universal is hurting for business. They keep sending out marketing material to Florida Residents. The best one I have seen, which I have received and a few friends too, is a coupon that gives the recipient a free two-park ticket and up to six friends get two-park tickets for $25 each. Seaworld has some great deals as well. Disney seems to be the only park not offering recession proof pricing.

Have the crowds been down at Disney this year? Maybe Disney isn't worrying about the recession. Then again, they wouldn't need to raise their prices if that were true.

Disney has to be effected by this economy! I don't ever remember them doing promotions like Buy 4 nights get 3 free! I really wish another promotion like that would come around again! Probably wishful thinking.

Yeah, and they've also extended free dining to December.

Hope they don't increase too much. But most recently it seems like they are offering a lot of deals, free dining and a bunch of other things. I think they have been hurt by the economy, but are really trying to keep people coming.
