[quote="Future Guy"]The only thing a Soarin' over America film could add might be the flat nothingness of the Midwest [quote]

what what what..... soarin over Kansas was going to be my vote lol :)
I do not like the idea of soaring over the WDW park because it would betray some of the illussion of the parks. have you ever looked at the parks on google earth.... definatly take some of the shine off the magic you see on the ground floor.

I am sure that is why they filmed the swoop into DL at night...so all you could see is lights and Main Street.

I agree and they really did not fly over the entire park just main street and its a fairly fast flyover. what would be even cooler is if they got down to street level and then zoomed up over the top of the castle :)

The rumor I've heard several times. Is that the plan for the putting it in the land was to tie it into the environment. When it opened the queue had pictures from the different environments Jungle, forest, tundra, etc...

I've heard different versions from different CMs that the movie is either having trouble being made, because they have to get permits from so many different governments, and want to go into sensitive environments (which I suspect is not true since Disney has made Earth.) All the way to the film is "in the can" and if the lines would ever drop below 90-180 minutes on busy days, Disney would release it.

It would have to be a world tour.

Hardangerfjord Norway (Truly superb from personal experience of soarin' over Norway.)
The Acropolis at Athens and The Corinth Canal,
Some of the hill towns in Italy like Gubbio or (and) the Amalfi coast,
Machu Pichu Peru,
Some of the Rain forest and Amazon river Brazil
The Lake District and Edinburgh in Great Britain (not just the castle),
Niagra Falls, Canadian, American, or both sides :)
Ayers Rock and/or Sydney Harbor Australia
The Dalmation coast near Makarska in Croatia,
Mauna Loa Hawaii, or Mount Erebus Antarctica,
And don't get rid of all the Californian bits they are great. (except the speeded up bit near the end I don't like that much.)
And yes, from a great spiraling height, lets see a little bit of that "flat nothingness of the Midwest" how far can you see?
The Great Rift Valley Kenya,
Lake Geneva Switzerland,
The Grand Canyon, how could we miss that!
There are so many more.........In flight meals may be required for flights exceeding four hours...

That random selection option is looking pretty good now.

I really like that idea.

Years ago there was an IMAX movie where they flew through the Grand Canyon on a stunt plane. I thought it was amazing and could see that as a Soarin adventure.

Soarin' Over the World i would Say that way it covers what they miss in the world showcase or Soarin over America so that makes up for the lack in interest in the American pavillion

That's an amazing idea! It's very well thought out. How many of these places have you've been?

So far I have flown over:

Hardangerfjord,
The Acropolis at Athens and The Corinth Canal,
The hill towns in Italy and the Amalfi coast,
The Lake District and Edinburgh in Great Britain,
Niagra Falls,
The Dalmation coast,
Some of California,
Lake Geneva Switzerland,
The Grand Canyon,

I haven't managed Brazilian rain forest but I have managed the rain forests of Belize...which is probably similar, and I have flown over Canadian "flat nothingness" but it was a hazy day and you couldn't see very far at all. I have also flown over some Italian Volcanoes but Erebus and Mauna Loa are different for me because of there locations.

I like the Soarin' over the world idea, as well as the Horizons-type experience, but maybe there could be more added?

Here's a thought- since Soarin' is in Future World, why not do some sort of version where maybe it goes in a completely different direction- say, I don't know, space or the ocean? I know it sounds kind of crazy, and I realize Future World already had Mission: Space and the Seas with Nemo, but this could be a way of tying the ride into the park as a whole.

This would pretty much destroy the whole concept of hang gliding, but it was just a thought.
