Any chance for less than 24 hours
before something can be requested again, say like 12 hours?

the reason it's set at 24 hours is because of a single track being over played in the course of a day. 2 a day can get annoying after a while.
There are days when I'm home and I'll listen in all day. And, as much as I love the MSEP, I don't want to hear it twice a day or more. Also, think of the people who listen in at both the office and home... I think some of them would feel the same way...

I still hear the same thing too much. When I get back to adding more tracks I might change it to 48 hours.

meaning the same question or the same music? Didn't mean hit upon such a touchy subject, as a newbie here, I didn't realize it was an issue.subsonic wrote:I still hear the same thing too much. When I get back to adding more tracks I might change it to 48 hours.
And, personally, hearing some things even once a day is too much for me, but that is just personal preference.
The same tracks. It's mainly because of requests. People like hearing the same stuff.

i wonder
I wonder what the collection is up to now. We could probably go a week or more without a single repeated track. Especially with all these new tracks I just got in the official 50th set, including the new Space Mountain (non-RockIt Mtn) track. 8)
Maybe we could set it up so the same person couldn't request the same track more than once per week?

Wouldn't suprise me if it was more than that...sockfire wrote:I wonder what the collection is up to now. We could probably go a week or more without a single repeated track. I'd be bummed if it went to 48 hours.
I was thinking about maybe top 100 requests having a shorter time, like 12, but that would probably just reinforce the same few (soarin, illuminations, etc.) because they could get even more requests...
Sub, if you & others get tired of the same few so many times, clearing the request list might help spread things about a bit. Or, dropping off requests from the "total requests" after a period of time (month?)... Then, the top requests could change over time more easily.
OTOH, I really like how things are going with the station right now, so I don't really think any changes are needed!

There was a time where I disabled requests and it was nice hearing stuff I've never heard before.
There are changes to be made, bugs to be fixed, additions to be added. So little time...

How about a random respawn time of 4-50 hours or something? That way the same person wouldn't be able to request it every day at the same time.
You could implement something that the more its requested the longer the regen time, but if the song is being requested its one people obviously want to hear, and blocking what people want to listen to might not be the best idea.

How about leaving it at 24 hours for everyone else except the person who requested it last. Make the time maybe 72 hours for the person who requested it last. That would stop one person from requesting the same song everyday at 2am, effectively keeping it out of the listening loop for everyone else...
