I think they have actually made them slower. I remember as kid, it would really jar you around when you slammed into the car in front of you. Now it is just like a little bump. I don't know, maybe its because I am older and my memory is messed up.

They actually changed the bumpers on the cars in recent years. You are correct in them giving a better jolt in years past. The old bumpers were just metal while the newer ones are metal with shock absorbers. The bumpers now push in upon contact. I found that in order to give my brother a jolt I had to strike him on an angle.

Ahhhhh. I see. They take all the fun out of it.

Remember only do this if you have family members in front of you and nobody is watching you :D. Also, I think the cars have been slowed down a bit. Last time I was on it, I felt like I could have walked the track faster.

I am with horizons1! When I read this I pictured something of a more serious nature and actually thought they intended to say "Accident at Richard Petty Driving Experience". This is more believable. We have never been to the Tomorrowland Speedway. My DH does not think it worth our time....In reality it is the exhaust fumes. He is allergic and cannot handle the fumes. On that subject, don't you think Disney could go green here!!!! I mean really the exhaust from the Speedway has to be impacting the environment and the workers who breathe the fumes from those little cars day in/out!
Seriously though I am sorry to hear someone was injured.

About a year ago I was on the TTA and saw a car break its front axel off and jump the rail. On the way around again the cast member was picking up the from try to put it back on. Crazy.

I didn't think that the speedway cars had enough power to jump anything!!

I have tried jumping the track with the side to side slamming of the rail. So far very unsuccessful. Had to be either an issue with your car or you hit the track just perfectly.
