47 attractions in one day

Post by Amy » Jun Sun 16, 2013 4:43 pm

Did anyone else see this ~ two guys are attempting all 47 attractions at all 4 parks today. I came across this by happenstance today, but now I am really curious to see if they actually can accomplish their goal! Here is a link to their home page if you are interested... http://www.parkeology.com/

This sounds like an awesome idea, but they are doing it at the wrong time of the year. The slowest days at Disney are in mid to late January. I believe then, you have a shot at doing such a feat. During the summer months, it seems very hard to complete.

If they hire the vip service Disney has it can be done and with little stress, and possibly a lunch. :D

Apparently there is something like 142 on property, if they are skipping shows/non-rides and a few of the really long rides like Universe of Energy they might be able to do it if there aren't too many hour long lines.

While it might be fun to be able to say you did it, I'd hate to waste a Disney day trying to cram it all in and then being utterly exhausted afterward. I'm not sure it would be worth it.

I read back a little bit in their blog and they are there today because they wanted a fairly "regular" day to see if it could be done. Not enough of a challenge during the slow times I guess.

Sad to say, the thought of the disabled tour guides crossed my mind (only as a joke!) as well. I'm starting to think like the Wizz?! They mentioned in the blog that they are only doing what WDW considers attractions, not shows. I'm thinking Universe of Energy is definitely on their list. They mentioned using that as a time to have a snack in a quiet corner

I would totally try it, but only if I lived relatively close and could stay a few extra days to enjoy the parks at a normal pace as well!

I am quite curious if they will be able to make their goal. I know I saw it mentioned that Test Track had been down a lot of the day which was messing with their schedule. The other interesting thing is the two guys doing this challenge together have never met before, although they have chatted online for many years.

So you are saying you find that the handi-capable are only allowed to sit in wheelchairs in the corner? Well shame on you! :D

I am pretty sure that they consider things like country bears as attractions, with the semi-automated shows they would need to time it just right so they are not stuck waiting for too long. At the same time they could go in, sit down for 20 seconds, and flee the theater and it would be a valid ride.

It isn't impossible to do in the off season since you could knock out AK during a magic morning, take the bus to DHS then walk/boat to Epcot (working your way around the lagoon to futureworld), then monorail to MK (if they do an EMH on the same day) until they are kicked out.

Someone has been stuck west of the Mississippi. We call it morning EMH once you cross the river :D

I honestly think 47 attractions in one day is possible. It just depends on what attractions are on the list. If it includes all the attractions with long stand-by times like Soarin, Midway Mania, etc, then it will be a challenge. However there are plenty of attractions you can do in a day and only wait at most 15 minutes.

Wizz ~ what?! :?
Um, no, I think they are actually experiencing all the attractions, not just just getting in at the start of an attraction and calling it done. And I just looked again, and they aren't going to attractions that don't have a ride vehicle, so Country Bears wouldn't qualify for their quest. They are including Soarin' and Midway Mania ~ and in fact, those are the two attractions they mentioned as being the most challenging as far as taking up lots of time!

This is from the FAQ portion of their latest blog post:
"Are you sure there aren’t more than 47 rides? What about Sum of All Thrills?

I tried to be as fair as I could with the criteria. To make the list, it had to be an official attraction as recognized on Disney’s web site, and it had to involve a vehicle of some kind. Sum of All Thrills is a simulator, much like Star Tours or Mission Space (which both made the list). But Sum of All Thrills is not listed as an attraction, and isn’t even featured in the description of Innoventions. Sum of All Thrills is a glorified arcade game, like some of those racing simulators at DisneyQuest that technically move you around, but aren’t complete attractions in their own right. So says the official #WDW47 rulebook.

I had to make the same judgement call with the Friendships. They are vehicles that are technically inside the borders of Epcot, but Disney treats them purely as transportation. They are not attractions, and they are not included in the official Disney list.

Well it's ridiculous to skip those that don't have a "ride vehicle." That leaves out not only Country Bears, but also Hall of Presidents, Tiki Room, and Philharmagic, just in MK alone. How many of us would go to Magic Kingdom and skip all of those? Ok Ok Ok some of you can do without HoP but the others? Attractions lacking ride vehicles aren't any less a part of the park. I understand the point of the challenge, but that's like saying you're doing a hotdog eating contest, but not eating the buns and only having ketchup because you don't like your hotdogs any other way. You're automatically going to eat more hot dogs because you're not stuffing yourself full of all that bread.

What at first seemed, to me at least, like a pretty lofty challenge, now seems pointless and a challenge merely for the sake of challenge.

They are going to have a recap of their day posted later. I'm still interested to see what they accomplished, and how fast they had to move to do so!

It's ok Amy... well it's not really ok, but at least we now know how you feel about the disabled. :D

Do they count the raft to Tom Sawyers Island, the train, and the monorail on their list as well?

It's fine to skip the show attractions for this because they are time sucks, and even skipping them on a normal vacation is fine if you don't want to see them. Other than HoP the others do not change on a regular basis so if you've seen it once you are good.

If that list goes in reverse order, then they pretty much did it as I predicted. :D I would guess they would have to do AK early since it usually closes sooner right?

Though I am surprised they don't count the monorail and the firendships as attractions but counts the Main St stuff as rides.

I won't be surprised if they have some trouble at Hollywood Studios. They do have evening magic hours there tonight, so there will be a lot of people at that park during the day. The waits for Test Track, Space Mountain, and Soarin are going to be long
