Build your own lightsaber!
I can see we're going to have to make a stop at the Star Trader shop on our upcoming trip, these build your own light sabers look like fun. I wonder how much they cost*?

It's not that bad of a price really, when you consider how much HASBRO charges for star wars toys. I wonder if the "build your own lightsaber" came about in response to IoA's Wizarding World of HP has that wand shop?

That's been around for a while, actually. It was in Tatooine Traders before the Star Tours 2 rehab, and the World of Disney Store at DTD has had one since at least 2007. It's a lot of fun.

Those look pretty cool - the site said $21.95 or $24.95...that doesn't seem too bad...

If I recall, DLR had theirs since about 2005, I don't think many people used it though.

Then maybe it was the other way around - maybe the wand store was IoA's WWoHP reaction to "build your own lightsaber" at WDW.Future Guy wrote:That's been around for a while, actually. Hmmm... you know, I haven't payed attention to the area. I wonder if we got rid of ours? I'll check on Tuesday.

Doubt it. Harry Potter wands (character wands or otherwise) have been a huge collectible the last decade. Before potterland, the only places you could get good replica wands (mainly character wands) was online or at a Warner Brothers store at a mall.mindflipper wrote:Then maybe it was the other way around - maybe the wand store was IoA's WWoHP reaction to "build your own lightsaber" at WDW.

I'm guessing they will garner a bit more attention with the opening of the new Star Tours...Wizzard419 wrote:If I recall, DLR had theirs since about 2005, I don't think many people used it though.

This is true thats more than likely why they set up the booth.

I'll check, but they may have simply gotten rid of it since it took up so much retail space and they wanted to put something else there.Amy wrote:I'm guessing they will garner a bit more attention with the opening of the new Star Tours...Wizzard419 wrote:If I recall, DLR had theirs since about 2005, I don't think many people used it though.

Re: Build your own lightsaber!
I made a blue lightsaber in Once Upon a Toy. It seems fun at first, but then try doing it when there's tons of kids and parents putting lightsabers together for their kids all at once. The real cool part was when I was in line to pay for it, the cashier asked if I wanted to be a Jedi or a Sith, and I said Jedi. She then gave me a Jedi pin.
