captains grille opinions

Post by nicklesm17 » Mar Sat 12, 2011 10:29 pm

we've never been there. as we filled in the blank for our last dining plan reservation, this place was the front runner (and the only one w/out previous dining experience). anyone have a knowledge of this place? the menu looks good, in general the reviews are good, but what do subsonicers think about this place. please, the personal details/opinions are what i really want to know before making it part of our oct. schedule, thanks.

I've heard that the food here is very good quality and the steaks compare to Yachtsman Steakhouse. The menu/prices looked good enough for us to try and get a ressie on our last trip in Dec. We were able to see the concierge the morning of and got a res that night around 5pm. Don't know if that's a good sign or not. We checked with the Yachtsman and were able to walk in there, so we canceled our res and went to the Yatchsman so I can't give you a review for dinner. We did go for the breakfast buffet and I think it is equal to or even a little bit better than the buffet at Crystal Palace, just minus the characters so it's cheaper.

We have only eaten at Captains Grille for breakfast and the food is always fantastic. I have heard good things about it for dinner so I would say go for it and give it a try. The worst case scenario is that you don't go back on a future vacation.

As for business, I do find them to not be a very busy restaurant for breakfast. You can almost always get in for breakfast by making an ADR when you first wake up or just going to the host stand for a 5-10 minute standby wait.

I've never been to Captain's Grille so I can't give specific information on the restaurant, but I've had a lot of good luck with other restaurants like this that isn't as popular. I'd give it a try!
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!
