MSEP Extended

Post by Lion Sleeps Tonight » Jul Fri 30, 2010 9:44 am

Good news for you who won't be able to visit in the near future, but wanted a chance to see the Main Street Electrical Parade. Due to overwhelming guest popularity, Disney has decided to extend the parade indefinitely.

I hope it isn't indefinitely, I love MSEP, but I also love SpectroMagic and would hate to see it end forever. I am hoping that MSEP's return is to add or enhance some feature of SpectroMagic and that there is an issue, meaning MSEP will be here until that issue is resolved.

The original rumor I heard before MSEP (DEP) even went to WDW was that it would be there for 2 years. This was so that DCA could be finished with all the construction before the parade returned. As the park continues its construction, more and more of the parade route will be closed off. Eventually, the entire entrance plaza will be closed and that it a star/end point for the parade.

I am not surprised. They gave the Summer cutoff most likely to make people come during the summer and not wait. Now people have the excuse to go back in the fall or winter so they can see it again.

I am not surprised at the "extension" of the parade. I would speculate that they were planning on holding it over all the time, but like theBIGyowski said, the "limited engagement" got people to come and see it over the summer so they didn't miss it. And now other people will be glad they didn't miss it and go see it...

Rumor too they need the parade float storage area to temporarily store items for construction too...

Maybe they can go ahead and change it back to MSEP then if it is going to stay around Main Street for a while. :goofy:

I just wonder if they will ever get the kinks out? I do think it will be here for close to two years as it has been rumored. I honestly never thought that Disney would go through such a great expense of shipping the entire parade across the country for just 2 months. I wonder if this also brings about any truth to the rumors that SpectroMagic is down for that "big refurb".

Me personally: I would rather see SpectroMagic. People applauded about the same amount for both parades.

We still got to consider the Spectromagic refurb rumor still a rumor. I would imagine if the parade is going to be around longer that WDW will still work out any kinks.

Hmmmmmmm, was just wondering: what if they keep DEP at WDW, and move Spectromagic out to DLR's MK? There's been no electrical parade at DLR's MK since Light Magic...

That's what I recall hearing. I know they need to start construction on the front entrance/plaza of DCA soon so it can coincide with the red trolley.
