Best places to propose

Post by WDWGolfer » Jun Wed 09, 2010 2:21 pm

I need some ideas on locations to propose to my girlfriend around the walt disney world resort area. Please let me know! Thanks!

Something that I would like to be considered would be a description of an entire night leading up to and including the actual proposal
and any additional advice. Thanks!

In front of Aloha Isle of course! With the ring in a Dole Whip!!!!

No, just kidding...I am not a woman, so I can't imagine what a woman would think is very super duper romantic. I'm sure some of the lovely ladies on here will have some ideas.

The beaches in front of the Grand Floridian or Polynesian during the finale of Wishes...that would be amazing

Also on the patio area of Italy by the Seven Seas Lagoon at the end of Illuminations.

The Victoria Gardens in Canada in Epcot.

In front of the castle at the end of Main Street...make sure someone gets a picture of the castle behind you as you propose.

I would stay away from the Haunted Mansion...as it seems marriages over there do not seem to last very long.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!

Just kidding.

I think anywhere in WDW would be a good place. I always thought that on a roller coaster would be a good idea. Considering that marriage is generally filled with ups and downs and twists and turns and is usually exciting.

I've known people to do it near the wishing well. Unfortunately, it's pretty close to a smoking area, so that would probably ruin things. The rose garden near Tomorrowland is a good place, too.

My idea would be in front of the castle. You can do it when you go to have the photopass photographer take your picture in front of the castle. You are able to perfectly capture the moment.

OK...WDWgolfer you asked for it, so here is my story of how I proposed to my girlfriend who is now my beautiful fiance' getting married in this year :goofy_bounce:

My girlfriend and I had originally planned a 3day 2 night cruise out of Ft Lauderdale for Oct 15th-17th 2008, but the cruise was canceled due to the recent hurricane in Texas. The ship was asked to relocate to Galveston for use as temporary housing. We were disappointed but were given a full refund. So My girlfriend( who likes Disney but hasn't been a million times like I have)knowing that I was a huge Disney fan suggested a trip to Walt Disney World instead !!! I had planned to propose to her on the cruise but now I would do it in WDW!! What could be better? So I started planning and scheming, Disney has so many possibilities! After much research for some ideas, I decided on proposing on the beach at the Polynesian Resort with a great view of the "Wishes" fireworks show in the Magic Kingdom.
We only planned one day in a park and that would be Epcot on our second day. So on our arrival day I surprised her with staying at the "POP! Century" resort instead of offsite as she had thought was the plan. Then I told her that I wanted to take her to dinner at "Boma" but was unable to secure an Advance Dining Reservation (which was the truth) so if we wanted to eat there I thought the best thing was to be there at 4:30PM when they opened and hope for the best. Well that plan worked and we were seated in less than 10 minutes! When we left, the place was packed with a herd of people at the host stand waiting to get in.
Now... what to do between 5:30 and 9 when Wishes starts? Well I took her on a whirlwind tour of "The World" we rode buses, boats, and monorails went to all 4 parks without entering them and a few resort hotels all the while I'm telling her we had to be somewhere by 9 PM for a surprise. Well we made it to the beach, found a front porch style swing set up in the sand (thanks Disney), and I told her we were just here to watch the fireworks (she bought it) so we snuggled and just a while before the fireworks started I hear an amplified "ALOOOOOOO-HA" I didn't know about the dinner show being so close to the beach spot I had chosen ... but I was determined so we stayed, listened to the corny show and watched the fireworks. When the fireworks were over she thanked and kissed me and got up to go, I told her to sit down for just another minute, then (GULP!!) I explained that the fireworks show was called "Wishes" and I did make a wish on those shooting stars and she could make my wish come true, I got down on one knee there in the sand and proposed and all she could say was "oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh" then a "YES!!!!" then some more "Oh my gosh's"
So even with not going with our original cruise plan, not being able to get an ADR for Boma, and having an annoying dinner show accompany our romantic time on the beach, I created our own "Magic Moment" and now have a wonderful beautiful fiance'

When we were on our honeymoon we ate at Cinderella's Castle on the second night. After being shown to our table I asked if we could sit by the window, and they accomodated us quite graciously. A little while later I saw a young man proposing to a woman at the table we were originally shown. I sometimes wonder if maybe I had messed up his plan by requesting the window table...Maybe he had made a special request for a window table with his reservation and we ended up stealing it? So I'd say at a window table at the restaurant in Cinderella's Castle is a good place to propose, just as long as we're not eating there the same night:)

My Post from last year and youtube video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guXhK55-NuA

On our lastest trip to Disney World in May, our Son proposed to his (now) fiance' at the Wishing Well in Magic Kingdom. It was a family trip and we were all there. He told her we always go to the wishing well first thing to make a wish. He gave her a penny and told her to close her eyes tight and make a wish. When she opened her eyes, he was on one knee!

By the time this was going on there were at least 50 people around watching! Everyone clapped, and complete strangers were crying! It was very special. Then they went to City Hall on Main street where they were given buttons that said Just Engaged, and a Magical Moments certificate.

We made a movie and put it on YouTube.

Not sure how you would pull this off, but I always thought that popping the question at the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor would be very memorable.

Picture this if you dare: Somehow getting selected by Buddy Boyle to be "psycotic" and seeing the significant other getting embarassed though the skit. At the end of the skit, Buddy says something like: "well, I know someone that is more psycotic that wants to ask you something." Then the guy goes down on one knee and pops the question. She says yes and the whole theater celebrates! :goofy_bounce:

I always thought that would be an awesome way to propose!

My husband proposed to me on my first trip to Disney, right in front of the castle. I think that's the best place for a proposal.

To jazz it up, you may want to consider eating at the castle for dinner and requesting a table near the window. But don't go during dinner hour. Time it so that you go much later in the evening, near the time of the fireworks. It is truly romantic to watch the fireworks going off from just outside your window (did that on our honeymoon).

Most people propose in front of the castle. I don't know your likes and dislikes but I feel a great place to propose would be in Italy or maybe France.
