36 hours

Post by wdwannabe » Mar Tue 03, 2009 11:55 am

Wow! After 36 hours and no electric due to the snow storm! I missed my Subsonic! Ok, I missed my shower and shampoo too!

It was sure nice to look at on Sunday as the giant snowflakes came down! But the ice that came after, not! We haven't seen snow here in 15 years, and we have never lost our power for that long here ever! That was the longest I have been without power too!

Anyone eles affected by the snowstorm this past weekend?

I feel cheated! Chattanooga is north of where you are and we didn't get any snow. It went north and south of us. :x :(

Our power also went out Sunday night and still has not come back on. Last night the low temperature was 17 degrees. I missed my Subsonic, but I missed my heat more!

We only had a couple of hours of snow on the north side of Atlanta. I think it was a little heavier on the east and south ends of the city but all in all it was over pretty quickly and didn't really accumulate. It was nice to see, briefly, though.

Sorry to hear you guys were without power so long - not fun. Stay warm!

You poor guys that suffer the snow...come to CA and deal with the rain! Though it hasn't been raining that much this week since I know tomorrow we're supposed to get some rain.

Wow!!! 36 hours! But consider yourself lucky.... after Hurrican Katrina, we had no power for 11 days.

And lucky lucky LUCKY on the snow! No snow here in Florida, even though it's been cold lately here in Orlando.

That is crazy! The longest I was ever without power was 18 hours. It was tough and that was half the time. The storm hit central NJ hard dumping around a foot of snow.

OK, it's Wednesday, and we still have snow on the ground! Go figure! But they say 75 by the weekend.

We learned by the last storm of 1993 to get a wall heater..so we had heat, and just ate sandwiches.....and got pool water for flushing, since we have well water and the pump was not working, so we were not too bad, we still have homes around here without power. The ground is mushy and they said the power trucks were getting stuck in the mud. We also had a lot of power poles down, so it's taking longer to get power restored.

Woke up this morning with a cold..

The longest I was out of power was three weeks. It was due to a hurricane about 4-5 years ago. The town next to us was out for a month

How often do you see snow in GA? Sorry to hear you were without lights for that long. I bet you lost all food in the refrigerator and freezer.

For me, the worst part about this storm was the 50 degree weather the previous week. I honestly thought winter was over.

during the "October Surprise" that we had back in 2006, we were without power for about 5 days. there were too many tree limbs down that were either blocking the roads or that pulled down wires/towers. I posted some pictures of the devastation and posted them in my LiveJournal.

Hi len90's brother!

Let's see, the last big snow storm was in 1993.....so I would guess every 15 years a big snow, and of course we can get ice almost every year maybe every other year. I live north east of Atlanta, not in the mountains, they can see snow dusting every year. Today, Thursday, patches of snow still remain, but it's 40 out now, and expected to get to 65 today... So from one extream to the other........

And we'll be in the 70's by the weekend. Go figure. We also had tornados in February, about a month or two ahead of the bulk of our spring stormy weather.
