December 1 - december 7

Post by js3901 » Dec Tue 05, 2006 11:18 am

well, I'm here in WDW right now. I was thinking right along to do a trip report day by day, the day it happens. but, being out late (EMH) and up early (other EMH) is just draining the energy. but, we're trooping through it. anyways, to date:

I had left Buffalo around 12:30pm on Thursday (11/30) so I could pick Brandon (Dr. Ravenscroft) up at his house in Philadelphia, and we would drive through the night to get to the Ft Wilderness campgrounds by 12/1. I arrived at his house about 7:30 - 8:00 and we proceded to load up the car with his stuff, and then stand aroung for a while just talking. we then left Philadelphia around 8:30 - 9:00. we literary drove through the night, only rest we really got was about 20 minutes each while the other was driving. I know I, for one, was just excited to finally be going down at last.

we got down to Ft Wilderness at around 3:30 pm on Friday. we got the camp set up (a dining tent/screen house to go over the picnic table, the sleping tent and airmattresses) around 5:00, and Epcot had EMH that night. so, in true Disney fashion, we decided to go to MK (just kidding, we did go to Epcot). I finally got to see Soarin', which I say is really good. the one problem I have with it is kinda like the Soarin' over Florida video that someone did - it changes the scenes very quickly. I understand that California has alot of diverse landscape and scenery, but with the sudden changes, I was getting a little disorientated (not really the sick kind, but mostly confused). we did alot of the heavily advertised things - M:S, TT, SSE, Soarin. really, with the amount of people, it was really all we could to in the night.

on Saturday, we had reservations to do the Segway tour at Epcot, and we had to be at guest relations at 8:45 for the 9:00 tour. we hopped one of the Ft. Wilderess transports to the Outpost depot to catch the Epcot bus by about 8:15. by about 8:40, it never showed. so, we went back to the site and got the car and rushed over to get to guest relations. we showed up about 9:00 but missed the group. so, we got put into the 9:30 slot. the segway experience was REALLY cool, and I DEFINATELY endorse it for anyone to try (you have to be within like 140 - 250 lbs and over 18 (or over 16, either way, valid license is required). It's $80 for the 2 hour tour, but if you say you have the AAA Diamond card, you get 15% off, making it $68. that price includes the tax. the guides will do some trivia in a few of the countires, and they ask questions about things in the countires and if you answer right, they give you a button (Honorary citizen of the world). nice little thing. at the end of it, they also give you an exclusive pin with a little man on a segway who roves back and forth. we did the rest of the day at Epcot, doing just about everything (including Body Wars and Cranium Command). we left before Illuminations because we saw it the night before, all the best spots were taken, and we had been in Epcot now for a total of aboout 20 full hours. we had skipped over the circlevision movies and Maelstrom due to either long lines, or no more showings. We'll be doing more Epcot later.

on Sunday, we found ourselves in the MK, taking advantage of the evening EMH. we didn;t get to really see wishes, as we thought it started at 9:30 and had time to do the TTA and COP. we were mistaken. it started at like 8:30 and we saw bits of it from TTA. I did all the roller coasters, including the barn stormer. Brandon has a tough time with those, so he opted out and stuck to taking pictures. I ended up loosing my hat on Splash mountain, as I forgot to take it off cause I was placed in a boat with 5 very unrully, unsupervised kids who kept standing up, screaming at the top of their lungs when we weren't dropping, or splashing each other with the water and hitting me too. I yelled at them at the end cause they were doing that. The still had not found it and turned it into the lost and found yesterday when I checked, so I'm going to check again in a little bit and see if it turned up last night.

Yesterday, we did AK in the AM. I must say that I like EE. I think it was really well done. I'm sure we could not be going that fast naturally, so I think there are the linear induction motors in the track like in TTA. after spending just a couple of hours (doing the safari, EE, Dino, the Primeaval whirl, we called it a day at AK and headed over to MGM. we did most everything we could with EMH - Indiana, Sounds Dangerous, Star Tours, Muppets, RNR, GMR. I can at this point, pretty much recite word for word the script at GMR.

Today's plan, after a late start, it to do MGM for the rest of the day, as we missed Fantasmic, the backlot tour, OMD, and narnia. tomorrows plan includes Epcot in the AM and AK PM as AK has the evening hours tomorrow. Then, we meet Kelly (knedeau) for breakfast in Thursday before check out, and a trip to the MK before the MVMCP. the, it's back home :(

hopefully, we can get more people to do this next time, and get group rates on the the segway tour (definately doing it again) and rooms and such. Well, Brandon's almost done with his shower, so time to get ready to go.

Brandon has alot more pictures than I do. I keep forgetting to take my camera out of the bag. Plus, I'm here for the atmosphere and the experience.

I will be editing/adding a few new (live) tracks. hopefully they come out ok...

I'm the worst when it comes to actually "using" my camera. I'm too busy playing. I always think I dont have enough pictures afterwards. But with Digital, I try and take "too many" which usuually comes out to enough.

I used to be Sub but now with my new camera, Casio Exilim 10.1 MP, I have learned to take hundreds without even thinking. I can take video on it too. I think on this trip I have around 8 GB, YES 8 GB of pictures/video. It will be a while before I can get them all uploaded to my Photobucket account. Once I get a Digital SLR I will be taking fewer pictures because it will take longer to setup.

Edit: Thinking about it I probably upset JS and Kneadu with my picture taking, for that I am truly Sorry.

Hehehe. It's not the picture taking that was the bad part... it was that "Stinky" hallway/cave on tom sawyer's island. Poor Justin and I had to go through it more than once! ;) BTW.. Where are the Pics? Too bad we couldn't get a pic of the 3 of us stuffed into a doom buggy!

PS... to Justin: The photos in front of the castle were great! You've gotta show everyone!

How was breakfast at the Whispering Canyon? I just keep remembering the Samantha Brown special and the guy that asked for ketchup. More ketchup! Ok, so you had to be there. Anyhow, how was the subsonic gathering??

Well I feel a little better that it wasn't me but the cave. The pictures are on the way I am just going to rough edit them and send them to you and JS. Rough edit means flipping pictures upright and eliminating the bad ones, like a couple of fuzzy ones and ones that are just a wall.

Next time I will get a CM to take a picture of us. And yes I know there may not be a next time for all three of us.

We actually had the breakfast at the Poly, because the boats weren't running. JS and I were leaving that day so we just drove over there. The three of us had breakfast at about 8:30am until ???? I can't remember. Then we went over to MK for a while. We rode HM, POTC, and over to Tom Sawyer island to find a paint brush, and almost HOP.

Kelly's sister called and stole 1/3 of our group, :P :D  .

Hey and the pictures of the three of us are cool but darn, they want 12.95 each. They want way to much, we should have had the CM take those pics and one with one of our cameras, then we could have had a free picture. I can buy one and scan it so we all get a free one.

P.S. If you don't understand where I'm going with any of this or if I didn't make any sense at all forgive me I need to get to bed. My eyes are closing as I type. Talk to ya next time.

Dr, if you remember, as part of the MYW package I booked, we got 1 free photopass. I chose the one where we are doing the thumbs up. it should be arriving here within a couple of weeks. I'll scan it and post ASAP.

For breakfast, we ate at Capt. Cooks at the Poly, as the boats weren't running that early for some reason (as Dr. said). I think we ate until about 9:30 and then headed over. Kelly forgot her shirt, even though it was her idea to wear them and get our picture taken. :P

I can't wait to see all the pics that came out, Dr.

For on ride pictures, you can actually get surprisingly good quality pics by just taking a shot of the picture previews after the ride. It's especially easy and nice quality on rides where the pic is up close on the way out i.e. RNR or EE.

As far as I can remember, the Haunted mansion or POTC doesn't take your pic on the ride. ;)

I had fun (even for an old lady like me!) I wish I could have stayed with you guys longer.... You actually got my humor! (This parrot... it's dead) hehehe..

(I admit, in my rush to get to the monorail, I did forget the shirt.. but I DID discover that night that it makes a VERY comfy sleep shirt!). Kudos Justin! (Oh.. and the CD ROCKS!)

ok, I know I wasn;t very good at updating every day, but pretty much what I put in the first post turned out to be true.

In any case, here are (just about) all the pictures that Brandon (Dr. Ravenscroft) took on the trip. I made then into a video slideshow with musc. I tried to match up the music with the pictures you see. the final count comes to 519 pictures ( I think, I lost count), 27 songs, 467.8 MB filesize, and 1:14:40 runtime. so, it's not for the faint of bandwidth if you want to download.

I've put it on Google video, which you can use to view, or download, the video for yourself. Here is the link:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 9846445147

Please let me know what you think. post a comment here or on google. or send me a PM/IM/Email.

enjoy!

Yeah just imagine how long it would be if I sent you all 918 pictures or even if you used the 726 I gave you
