Favorite Childhood Memory (Besides Disney)
My favorite memory was when I got my first lead role in a play. The play was Bugsy Malone (based on the 70's film) and I got the big head boss of the joint! 8) It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. How about your memories?
Do you think have enough time to go the bathroom before the next show?

Riding the electric horses at Steeple Chase in Coney Island!! I grew up there and it's really one of the only parts of the past glory of Coney Island I can remember. Well that and riding the original paradhute jump ride.
I read a story on line a while back that said a company is going to be putting 100 million dollars into the amusement area of Coney Island before the opening of the 2008 summer season. I sure hope that's true!!

My greatest memory was scoring 36 points in a Basketball game and during that game we beat a team that had not lost a game in 3 years and didn't lose after that for another year. All the parents, cheerleaders and players were crying because we beat them. It was a great moment for me and my school.
Bloody Pirate!
The first one that comes to mind is the time our grandma took my sister, brother and me to McDonald's and told us we could have whatever we wanted. We were all kids so, of course, we pigged out. And when one of us said "Nana, can I get some more fries?" she'd say "Sure" and hand us a dollar. OMG, that was good times.

One of my favorite memories was going over to my granparent's house... First of all, they had a train that went through behind their property, and we'd always run out to see it (it was a novelty for us).
Then, especially on the 4th of July, we'd all pack our chairs & blankets, then walk into town to the baseball field for the fireworks. (Usually we'd be able to convince G'ma and G'pa to stop at Mapes 5 & Dime for candy or a toy on the way there).

Grew up with a pool in my backyard and my favorite childhood memories aside from Disney vacations are about spending from sun up to sun down in the backyard swimming. Man that was a great time. We came in the house to basically use the restroom and go to bed.

My favorite childhood memory would have to be spending labor day weekends and summer weeks at our family's ranch. There are way too many stories for me to tell in this one post. You'll just have to trust me. I love that place. I almost litterally grew up there. I'm smiling just thinking about it! Let's just put it this way... if I had to choose between visiting the ranch or going to Disneyland I would seriously have to think about my decision.
I do stuff sometimes.

My favorite childhood memory is more than one. It's the nights I spent as a child playing outside until nightfall. I sound so old now but I remember how great it was to be outside until the sun went down; and even then we would still be out until moms called us in. And when we answered the call the path would be lit with fireflys.
Wow how the world has changed. And not for the better.

Oh! What a great question. I used to love visiting my Grammy & Grampy's farm.
-I would sleep in a cot next to my Grammy's bed (they had separate beds) and she would rub my back and tell me how much she loved me.
-my Grampy gave me the new baby Pony (we had to sell her later on.. but for a while.. she was MINE!)
-They ALWAYS had ice cream at their house
-I would sit on my Grampy's lap and watch TV.
-My Grammy would let me play music on her electric Organ.
Wow....... They were such AWESOME people and so full of love! I SOOOO miss them.

My favorite childhood memory is Christmas morning. My folks made Christmas so wonderful. I found out they would tie our bedroom door closed, then they would get to work. The tree went up Christmas Eve. I was always a huge balsam tree. Then my dad put up a train complete with houses, cars and all the lights. Christmas morning it was always the train whistle that woke us up. We knew we had been good little children because Santa Claus had been there. It was wonderful. Then after New Year's Santa slipped back into our house to take the Christmas tree and train board down.
But, spending the night at my Grandma's was also a VERY special time.

One more great memory:
Scoring a touchdown from the defensive line when I was 10. It was the first game my DAD came to. It's only one of six touchdowns I scored in 12 years of playing football. I thought my DAD was going to burst, he was so proud of me!!

There are vague memories I have of standing in line for the Jaycee's style haunted houses in October when I was little... (Mom says she was scared and would make ME go through first, as a little kid - hahaha.)
But best memories that aren't Disney... being in the 3rd grade Christmas play as Mrs Santa Claus. It was a musical called "Shapin' Up Santa" and I just thought I was the coolest thing to be Mrs. Santa Claus.
When I've watched the tape since, I cringe because I didn't know how to sing and wasn't coached very well. And I had no stage presence and was flipping my costume apron and doing a couple less-than-appropriate things on stage (like picking at my backside - ack!). But it was my first entry into theatre at all, so that is a great memory for me. I discovered then my knack for memorization too as I knew the ENTIRE play!

Sailing home made boats with my grandfather in a local stream on hot summer days. Picnic lunch with bottles of his home made ginger beer. (It was alcoholic too the crafty old geezer. I used to sleep for about 2-3 hours after a glass of that stuff. I was only 6 or 7!). Wandering home as the sun went down with every piece of clothing on the pair of us soaking wet from falling in the stream. Perfect day. 8)

That's a great one, Xmas mornings were always great.nancynohorse wrote:My favorite childhood memory is Christmas morning. My folks made Christmas so wonderful.
This one is kind of wierd, but one of my favorites was when I was about 8, and my brother and I had saved up all of our money for about three months so that we could go to Toys R' Us and get a new Real Ghostbusters toy Ghost Trap. We were so excited on the way over the TRU, and were talking about how awesome and fun it was going to be. When we finally got there, we ran to the Ghostbusters aisle, but couldn't find it anywhere. We asked one of the people working there if they had any out back, and they said that they had discontinued the Ghostbusters line, and the only thing they had left was a slime pack from the Ghostbusters II movie. We didn't have enough money for that one (and we didn't really want it that much), so we went home empty handed and broken. I love the memory because it reminds me how much I loved the Real Ghostbusters, and how I could be so excited and look forward to a toy so much.
