Few 128k, More 94k, or Many 64k Streams?

Post by subsonic » Jan Wed 11, 2006 1:31 pm

Would you folks rather have some 128k streams, many 64k streams, or split is and get a medium amount of 96k streams?

Only about 40% of my content is actually 128k quality. So if a track I have comes up that is 24k even if you're listening on the 128k stream it'll still sound like 24k.

I'm curious about what you all would rather see.

I'm making a poll as well.

I like the 128 streams because some of the songs are too distorted when they have lower streams. Like the Hallowishes Fireworks, the bass is overdriven at 64k.

OK I have been listening to the station for about an hour and I haven't heard any difference in the quality. But ofcourse I wasn't listening to the more Bassie songs so I will wait until I have more points to listen to one.

Subsonic: I'm okay with whatever works for you and the bandwidth. Since I mostly listen at work, the connection doesn't make too much of a difference through the laptop. The only time I notice a difference is if no one else is in the office and I can run the sound through my stereo speakers rather than the laptop's. I think the 96k seems to be a good middle road. It looks like there are usually connections available, which is great (when I'm on my old laptop--new one still is not a happy camper).

Thanks for a great station!

I think the 96k stream sounds fine. Also I appreciate the fact that the 96k stream doesn't include that cheesy subsonic intro.

The 96K is fine, it sounds like a 128K (to me at least.) My winamp doesn't go into mono.
I've gone full circle on my avatars.

OK now I have to say it is completely fine at 96k. Sorry to hear about the 128k going down. If we that aswell there would be a lot of space to listen.

And I need to get a 96k one to give to Addelma.

I'd prefer 128k but if it's busy all the time I'd rather have more 96k
