I wonder if they aren't sure how people are going to respond to the ariel AA? I know they mentioned it once (and the hair and all) but there hasn't been a word said since, which sometimes means that something may not be working as expected.

I'm guessing they learned an important lesson from the Yeti AA, don't hype your star piece because if it breaks it looks really bad.

Well we don't know if they haven't done anything about it, kind of like the WOC stuff when it broke. I would imagine it's a bit hard to focus when people are screaming by you ever 80 seconds.
Technically, I think the Yeti itself isn't the problem, this was discussed in that other thread, the issue was structural. When they thought it was a good idea to have it on it's own structure they apparently weren't able to calculate out chronic force and lack of damping. So DLR's Yeti is still the champion.

Trust me, they haven't done a thing. If they had tried, EE would have been closed for at least a week. That doesn't mean they haven't tried, they might still be trying to figure out ways to fix it (as in research). It's a low priority issue (as in they only have a few people or less working on a fix) I would imagine since the ride is able to function without it.

Agreed. I would imagine that with all the major projects happening within WDI and with staff cuts, there are more "important" projects going on. I actually mentioned this before, a former coworker of mine does contract work with imagineering and the bulk of the work on all the projects is done as contract work. The only thing that the fulltime staff does (since always apparently) is to get the broad concept and artwork down. Design and functionality is always a 3rd party.
A good way to think of it is you have a finite pool of resources (man hours, cash for contractors, etc.) and you have to decide betwen development and fixing a non-ride/life threatening issue. Which would you choose?
I actually saw a cool video earlier today of a dust devil picking up some agricultrual fleece that looked great, but sadly the physics for it probably won't work for an underwater hair effect as ariel would need to be about 300 feet tall.
