So this is going to completely get rid of the key to the world card? Now I'm even more glad I kept mine from my trip last year.

Sort of, the functionality will be enhanced from it, but they won't be issuing magnetic strip cards for hotel guests, eventually.

What the wristbands may also mean is that for the night time extended hours will no longer require staff to physically attatch bands to people since (theoretically) only hotel guests would have the bands. This wouldn't stop someone from picking some used ones up on ebay and coming in before the park closed to non-hotel guests though (using other admission).

I think that is a HUGE advantage...for CMs and Guests. You won't have to whip out your room key to ride the attractions only open during Evening EMH.

Makes sense. I bet they will still have the readers at the attractions during the EMH though. That will keep people from doing what Wizz was saying about picking up a wristband and using it without actually staying at the resort.

I don't know if they would bother using the bands for reservations, mostly because food service still requires the door people and all that.

The only reason I don't see them adding readers for EMH , unless it gets out of hand, is that there is loss to the park if a paying guest "sneaks" into the event.

Most of the attractions that are open during EMH also have FP though, so I would guess they would utilize the readers since they are there anyhow...maybe?

I'm not sure if that would be an impact though, if the bands were used up, then they would just not use fastpasses since they know the bands wouldn't work anyway.

No, I meant the FP utilize the same readers, so they could use the reader to check to make sure the person using the band was actually a registered guest. The band wouldn't register with the reader if they weren't staying on property at the time. There aren't FP for the attractions at night. It's like the CM checking the dates on the card instead of just checking if the guest has a resort card.

But that is where we get to the same issue, having to pay for workers to man the readers to keep paying customers out. If they didn't have to pay for all that extra labor, while cheap as it may be, for the EMH they would go for it.

They never offer FP during EMH. It cuts off with regular park operation. So that doesn't impact anything.

That's why I am thinking, they won't be scanning the bands for it. Worst case scenario, a non-hotel guest stays in the park while it's operating for 3 hours. It would be silly to spend money on staff and hardware just to scan bands and have the same system as before where you had to go to a line to get authorized.

Perhaps they will tap them just like they do for park entry is my guess, I don't really know the specifics yet.
