I have to admit my wife and I bought the mugs recently for the first time. And to be honest I was a little taken back by the price. It was about, bare with me it was a couple months ago when we stayed at the All Stars for a weekend trip, about twenty five dollars for two of them.

Now granted we used them a few times but it seemed kind of expensive, especially since it really wasn't that big of a mug and didn't really haven anything special.

The first time we saw the mugs, I got sticker shock and didn't buy one.

The last time we went, I was more accustomed to the cost of things at Disney and bought two on the first day of our trip. Why? Well, any decent souvenier is gonna cost you $10 anyway.

(Side note: I paid at least $10 for a balloon. I forget how much it was. Maybe $15. Whatever the big ones go for on Main Street. The girl who sold it to me made a comment to my daughter about how "daddy probably feels like he's getting ripped off now.")

Add unlimited refills to the cost of a souvenier mug and they are a bargain!

I'll grant you, the mugs themselves are nothing special. But I do still use mine. And I like having it. And I got my money's worth while we were there. I'll buy one again the next time we go.

I hope when the year of a million dreams promotion is over, that they go back to the Resort themed mugs, but I don't think they will. I wanted to get one from each resort we stay at, and now it doesn't look like that will happen.

Ebay, my friend.

You can get these pretty cheap on Ebay. Especially since they are no longer being refilled.

I do hope they go back to the resort mugs eventually too. But that seems unlikely. This way, they can force people to buy a new mug with each promotion instead of buying a mug for their favorite resort and using it every year.

First time I bought the mug I was disgusted by the price. As time went on, I learned to love it. Its a great deal even at a raised price. All you can drink coffee in the morning while my girlfriend is getting ready is wonderful. Great as iced coffee.

well I used to think like that, but you can buy coffee with free refills plus water, Plus with magical express, why would you need to even need to rent a car. They will take you anywhere.

I am trying Magical Express for the first time this coming trip and I always buy and take home refillable mugs. I've just done a count and I have 19. I will admit to having cheated and took them back on my next trip. I will be buying 4 more on our next trip but when you stay for 15 days it's well worth it. Roll on December!!!!!!

It is a bargain...IMHO.
We refill every time we come back to the resort, sometimes two or three times. And it is invaluable in the morning for that kickstart of java..

Only used the mugs once way back in '96 at Carribean Beach. I think they were just under $8 at the time! We loved 'em, and definitely got our moneys worth. Since then I have always stayed at FT. Wilderness, in the cabins. Then joined the DVC in '99. I wasn't aware that they were available at The Boardwalk until my last visit. I definitely would get one again, I'm sure they would still be worth the money. I remember mixing tea with some other fruit drink and it made it taste like raspberry iced tea, couldn't get enough of the stuff, it was really tasty :figment: Hey, where is the pepper market? Sounds great! Aren't all the pools 24 hrs? I know we have been at Luna Park in the wee hours before :D

I like the idea, and if you are a big soda/coffee fan, then it's great. We used the cup on one of our previous visits last year and definately got our money's worth. However, I decided on my last trip to just bring a regular water bottle and fill it up every morning with ice and some bottled water that I purchased outside the park, and it was SO much more refreshing than drinking soda all day. The whole bottle lasted all day and stayed cool, plus, I saved about $7. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but it all adds up and I noticed that I felt much better during the trip without all of that sugar in me. :D

We did this when we stayed at the Contemporary in 2000. It was pretty costly then, and we ended up drinking a lot of soda everyday from it and got our money's worth. Every time since, we have not bought the mug. We always rent a car (this year for the trip to CityWalk), and stop off at Walgreens on International Drive or Gooding's right outside of WDW for some 12 packs. This way we limit how much soda we drink and save the money for souvenirs.

Note that you'll probably only get your "money's worth" if you compare it to the inflated price of drinks at the hotel restaurant. If you're willing to get your drinks off-site, you'll save way more money (although, again, you will be mugless).

Yeah schnemo is right, if you compare the drinks at the resort the mug is a great value. If you look at off-site prices its not even going to come close. Since Disney is running the Mickey's Magical Express, they are hoping you never go off-site and thus buy the mug or their beverages.

I generally look at it as s souvenir with perks. This was of course then they had different mugs, and not the same stupid Million Dreams mug. I sooo can't wait for that promotion to be over. Lets just hope the mugs go back to being resort exclusives after the promotion.
