It really isn't much more than taking a few tours, or eating one of the package dinners....

I emailed my Mom last night to show her this and this was her response...
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess I'll be looking into the availability today. Fortunately for her (or unfortunately as the case may be for my pocketbook) I had given her a gift certificate good for any tour for her birthday ~ yikes!
Now to figure out how to get tickets. I'm guessing if they are available at a specific time, they will be selling out quickly...here is where the whole calling in sick thing doesn't work when you are self employed

Nah, I'm putting my Mom on the ticket getting duty. She is pretty excited about the opportunity so I think she will do a fine job...hopefully the computer will cooperate that morning
I would be curious to see a bit more of a schedule. It doesn't sound like it will take up all three days entirely, but it does seem to be pretty much a full evening commitment on Friday, most of the day on Saturday, and the morning on Sunday. But some very cool things to do and see indeed! I am ever so grateful you saw this and shared MmeLeota :D

Cool, Amy... I hope you do get to go so you can tell us all how it was, with pics of course!
By the way, I must have missed it somehow: when did you join D23?

I am a charter member  There was some doubt as to whether I was going to renew for the second year, but I decided to do it since they had been having writing contests and such. But now they haven't had any this new year at all :(
I tried to get tickets today while I was booking a tour, but they don't sell them through the tour people, you have to go through D23. I know the tickets don't go on sale until 10/26 but I didn't think it hurt to ask! :D
(Plus there was some sort of silver level something (!!) that was available to CM only, and I felt a little thrill when she asked if I was a CM, but I figured there would be some way of checking to see if I really was, so I was good and said no :( )

Cool, Amy! Mouseoholic and I are both charter members too. But we didn't renew both memberships this year. Only hers. To our disappointment, we have found that the events never coincide with our schedules... or our budget, so we didn't see the need to renew both. Besides, even with just one membership, I could still go as her guest to an event. So it's all good. :)

Any D23 members in the Boston area? Here's an event happening in your area to celebrate Fantasia's 70th Anniversary.

Well, I have to report that I am quite disappointed in our first time trying to get tickets for a D23 event. I was on the page where the ticket link was to appear, refreshed, refreshed, waited. There was no link at 1 pm as promised, or 1:01, 1:02, etc. When the link finally popped up at 1:07  I clicked and it was "sold out" I am very sad and so is my Mom (she is actually more disappointed than I am :( )that we won't be able to go. I wouldn't be as unhappy if the link had been there as promised and I simply wasn't one of the lucky people to get tickets.
I did send them an email hoping to get on a waiting list but I am guessing since there is a no refund cancellation policy, not many people will be skipping out on the $200+ tickets. Sigh...
Anybody have any experience with these events to know if there would be a bat's chance in heck that we can still make it in?!

Oh Amy!!! :( I am so sad for you guys!!! I was really hoping you'd get the chance to go to your first D23 event!!! Unfortunately, I don't know if they have any sort of waiting list or not.

As sad as it is, I'm not surprised by the challenge you faced with the link showing up. We had that sort of thing happen to us with the Star Tours event. It's so frustrating when you're there and ready to go but the link isn't. :?

Thanks MmeLeota. I did what I could on my end. And I sent a nice email expressing my disappointment in the rare chance that we could get on a wait list. I think probably not but it doesn't cost anything to try!

Have any D23 members received their Winter edition of the magazine yet? We got ours a couple of days ago and can you say "can't wait for TRON: Legacy?" Hubby can't wait as it is and then seeing the magazine didn't help either....

We just got one about a week or so ago, but I'm not sure which issue it is. It has "Tangled" on the cover, and doesn't say anything about Tron. Are we running behind on our issues, I wonder....? :? :?:
